Did you find the perfect old little house for your family, only to discover that it was poorly insulated? Did you decide to hold off on the insulation for financial reasons at first and then come to regret it later? Are your heating and air costs through the roof? There is a common myth that you can't add insulation to an old house. This is terribly incorrect and costs many people thousands in energy bills. If you think your home may be in need of updated insulation, the first step to take would be to have your energy company do an energy assessment for you or speak with a local insulation company, such as Dixie Foam LLC. If you would like to go around this step, you could do the inspection yourself. You would need to locate where your home is or isn't insulated, where it should and shouldn't be insulated, and what type of insulation you have. This should include an assessment of the R-value as well as the depth and thickness of existing insulation. With newer houses, you should be able to acquire this information from the builder. The amount of energy lost through insulated walls is costing Americans thousands of dollars every year. No matter how old your home is it's not too late to consider this alternative. It may seem like a steep step to take at first, but in the long run, you won't regret insulating your old house. Often, your existing insulation will not need to be removed, in fact you will most likely only need to add to what you already have. A simple assessment of your current insulation should provide you with all of the necessary information. This process can be simple if you have your energy company do it for you. Your energy problem could be solved by something as simple as re-insulation. Your home is not too old for an update in insulation. Even if you built it years ago, or it was built many years before your time, it is possible to update the insulation today. Consider updating your insulation to solve your energy, heat and air problems. It could be very well worth your while.
