First day at work, and manager didn't come in. Admin got me my laptop and system access, all finalized close to lunch time. Spent some time reading informational stuff on the system, but couldn't get into the learning portal to take any of the mandatory training. Played on my phone a lot. New work site blocks personal email addresses. That is a real bummer. They have good tea in the break room. Other than that, I just don't know yet. Car is out of the shop. A fixed transmission, 2 engine mounts, a belt and a key recall, all for $211. I guess that was a bargain...

What you paid for the repairs on your car was definitely a steal, because it could have been so much worse! I paid almost $600 for my inspection ... well, after they fixed all the problems they found, that is. It takes time to get used to a new job, so I hope that things start getting better.

$100 deductible on the warranty and $111 for the belt, basically...

@dawnald It's good that it is still on warranty, because it covers most things with just the deductible for you to worry about, but that is also sad, because you are already having to fix it while it is on warranty.

That does sound like a really boring day. When I worked for a school district they blocked so many sites - like personal email. I figured out so many work arounds and tech didn't even care since I never bothered their dept for stupid computer issues. Hopefully tomorrow you can at least get your training done.

My last job blocked social and entertainment sites, but this is the first one that has blocked email. I suspect it's because it's government, and they don't want me sending or downloading anything..

Well, at least you got to play on your phone. I wasn't allowed to do that at my last job, even though other employees did that. lol

I'm sure I'm not allowed to either, it's just that nobody had anything for me to do.

Wow, definitely sounds like you got a good deal on the car repair.. just replacing a transmission usually costs several hundred dollars, especially if you drive an automatic. Congratulations on starting a new job, though! What kind of work will you be doing? -Zero
