Do You Get "Hangry"?

Hangry means hungry and angry at the same time. I used to do it a lot but not so much any more. I was "hangry" tonight, waiting for the potatoes in my soup to get tender. There are some other things going on with me as well. I get depressed around my birthday. I am anxious because we have a lot of things and information we are waiting on. I am happy to say that having eaten, I am now mellow. Not Hangry. Hubby brought home stuffed crabs, which we ate as an appetizer. We took the time to go buy a frozen "turtle" pie, for my "birthday cake" and to meet my cravings for something sweet and creamy. The soup/stew turned out to be delicious, with buttered sour dough bread. There will be a replay later this week. My dishes are in the dishwasher, washing. The trash is out to the curb. I will go to bed earlier tonight than I did last night. It is good to have eaten and to be ready for down time now.

I feel like that when my blood sugar is low. I am not diabetic, but I do get hypoglycemic. So what's the actual date of your birthday? Enquiring minds need to know!

Tomorrow. In my lifelong history there have been some really rotten things occur on my birthday, like my sister being thrown from a car and having a head injury, learning a close friend had betrayed me, on my birthday, and then times when it was completely forgotten. Just a grumpy time for me. Yeah, actually hypoglycemia is a warning that you could become diabetic if you are not careful.

@GardenGerty I always know when my blood sugar is down and take care of it right away. It mostly comes on from overexertion and/or stress. Let's hope now that you're back on the lot, your birthday has at least one shining moment..............

This makes me laugh. In our home as we have someone getting impatient around meal times we ask them if they are hangry. I never put much thought into it but more often than not we all feel a lot better after we eat a little bit. We are trying to have snacks and meals every three hours to cut back on hangry outbursts.

@GardenGerty Planning is the idea. Not always perfectly executed though. I need to get better about it so we arent looking for fast food so often. Speaking of fast food... I need a soda.

@happythoughts I tend to eat everything that is not nailed down if I have not planned something better to eat.

I don't get "hangry" much anymore but I do get quiet when I'm hungry. If I am quiet and hungry it's for your protection, I swear. If it's a food that I am salivating for and I am hungry, I get agitated not "hangry".

It depends, if I am angry because dinner is taking too long, then yes, but usually when I am angry, I am not hungry.

I did not take my blood sugar, but anger sometimes comes with a sudden drop in blood sugar. I just felt like a mess today.

@GardenGerty Oh, well that explains a lot, you need to keep an eye on your blood sugar and be prepared in case you can't eat right away.

When you are really hungry it does seem like it is taking forever for the food to finish cooking.

What a wonderful choice of words because it describes the sensation so well. We must all experience this at some time or other because hunger does tend to have an effect on our temperament.

Stuffed crabs? How do you eat them. Is it that the flesh is removed and placed in the shell of crabs? Eating crabs without doing that will surely make one 'hangry'

Crab meat is mixed with seasoned bread (stuffing) and then put back into the shells and cooked.

I have never heard that term before but at this very moment... I think that just what might be what I am! It's still two hours until lunch and I'm starving. Guess that I should just have a snack and that should put me in a better mood. Maybe a Snickers Bar lol.

When you recognize it, you can choose a healthy snack and everyone is happy. Snickers sounds good to me.

I can understand "hanger".., I feel hangry too at times..more so when there is so much to do and I am waiting for my hunger to be taken care of.. Though we put ourselves on the backburner to tend to more imp issues at hand, our body refuses to oblige and "reacts" in awkward ways to make u press d panic button.. eat eat eat...

That is very correct. We put our needs aside and our body does not like it.
