Morning walks in a slow pace

I walk for 45 minutes to 1 hour in the mornings. My problem is that, I cannot walk fast. I have knee pain and after 5 minutes of walk, I feel heaviness in the heart. Hence my walking speed is very less. Is this type of walk of any use to my health?

The very fact that you are walking inspite of your knee pain shows that you are determined to remain active and I feel that any activity is better than no activity. I too walk for about 45 minutes 3-4 times a week, longer on Sundays because the streets are relatively quieter ..

All the doctors say shed the extra kilos. But I cannot walk more and fast. However, from the advice from all of you here in Mylot, I am convinced I will be benefitted with this slow walk too.I am thankful to you all for that.

@Buchi_bulla Many a times knee pain and extra weight are related the more you lose weight the less you have to carry around, so the knee pain too decreases...Thats what happened with one of my relatives who has lost nearly 12 kgs in a year just through sensible diet and walking for 40 minutes 5 times a week,in her cases it was necessary to lose weight since she had heart problems and high BP.I feel that you should slowly increase your pace, which may hurt in the beginning but you will notice that you will get used to it in a matter of days ..

Good to see you. A brisk walk is normally recommended. It would be good if you consulted your doctor on this. In the meanwhile you could resort to some yoga and pranayama exercises that can help you equally.

Nice to see you after a long time allknowing. I truly missed all of you. I will continue pranayama, which I left sometime back.

@Buchi_bulla Yoga has poses that help one reduce weight without exertion. Your knees also could be improved by yoga.

I am a vegetarian and hence does not eat seafood and meat. But still there are certain items like deep fried ones, potato etc.,which should be reduced. Thanks for the words friend.
