Do women carry unwanted things in their handbag?

This morning at the workplace a colleague was emptying the contents in her handbag to look for a coupon. Many guys stopped hammering keys on their computer keyboard and watched with their mouth open as items came out of her handbag. There was a lot that came out of her handbag? One of the guys asked her “Do you need all these things in your handbag” to which she smiled and replied “Essentials” Just curious… do women actually carry more than they require in their handbag? What do you carry in your purse/handbag?

I used to carry one in my younger days, and it was a bit heavy. I think I had everything but the kitchen sink in that thing! 
I don't carry anything now tho. I've come to believe that the younger women just "think" they need everything in it. 
As for me, as I got older I relized...I don't need all that "stuff" with me 24/7.

I guess not many women are aware of what they have in their handbags. I mean my colleague at work was quite surprised herself with stuff that was lying in her bag.

My purse is more like a cute little back pack. lol It holds my wallet, insurance cards, notepad, pen and lip balm. I used to carry a camera too, but thankfully my phone comes with one that works pretty well. All those those things are necessary to me.
