I tried doing it this morning

I really did! But it just wouldn't happen! I got so frustrated! I knew that if I tried to do it again, something would happen so I'd be unable to finish and get the job done! So I gave up! So, what the heck was I trying to do? I was trying to start a discussion! What did you think? I was doing it too, but as I was proofing it, I had to do some editing like I usually do, and well, I ended up tapping my phone in the wrong spot and POOF! it disappeared, never to be seen again! Anyway, I was able to rewrite it on my computer...several hours later. However, I couldn't remember it all, so it didn't turn out exactly the way that I had it. UGH! Okay, so in some ways it is better, but still, to have to write it all over again was a pain in the butt! Can we please go back to the old layout now? That way I won't be tempted to try to do it anymore! lol

@sacmom I do it straight but since you have issues I gave you that suggestion. As long as you can sort it out all is well.

Sorry, I know it's not funny....phone-typing can get really messed up....but this discussion reminded me of my Mom, who actually finds a way for this to happen ON HER COMPUTER. Not phone, regular computer. She'll be typing a really LONGG email (they're always long for some reason)...and then I'll hear her yelling and swearing....saying, "My whole email disappeared!! How can that happen?? Where could it be now??? Mel, just come over here and tell me where it could have gone.." I never go there, because I've never heard of a person's email "disappearing." I can't help her with a problem that shouldn't really exist anyway. I just sit there and tell her that I have no clue what could have happened, then I tell her that she has a stupid computer and it's "the computer's fault" (that always makes her feel better,) and then I tell her to take a computer class. She really needs to, and is in total denial about it. Nobody's email just "disappears."

She sounds like my dad. He saves something to the computer, and we keep telling him to name it a unique name and save it to a particular place or at least remember where he put it when he is saving it. Then, he can't find it, so he wants us to find it. Alright, well we can search for the name of the document ... what was the name of the document? His reply "The document has a name? How do I know what it's name is?".

I have an app called fast notepad. It's easy to use, uses very little memory on your phone, and is perfect for writing out your discussions. You can write them on the app, even when you don't have time to get on here. Like when you've at the store n think of a topic, you could joy the idea in a new note n sabre it for when you have time to write it out fully. Even if you accidentally hit the back or the home button, it will save what you wrote so you don't lose it. I do so hate to lose a well thought out, perfectly written discussion only to hit the wing button n lose it all!

@sacmom open the app. Depending on your phone n keypad, but I hold my finger on the words and a box pops up. I tap select all, then copy. (Your phone may be different, but how ever you usually copy/paste.) Then open Mylot, hit the pencil to start a new discussion. I again hold my finger on the box till a box pops up, then tap paste. Again, your phone may be different.

@tammyr Actually, I messed around with my phone the other day and figured out on my own! Although it was just as you explained it. Thanks anyway!

Awesome! I downloaded it! Thank you so much! I'm new to doing it this way (obviously lol), so I have a stupid question. How do I go about retrieving it later and post it here?

@sacmom @Rosekitty LOL - At least with a rotary phone you knew which number you were dialing and couldn't hit the wrong button by mistake.

Unfortunately, that used to happen to me with the old myLot format, and I didn't even have the excuse that I was doing it on my phone, because I was using my desktop computer.

Oh, I hated it when that happened! At least we didn't have to worry about it after reaching 500, so long as we remembered to use the copy/paste feature.

@sacmom Yeah, only dumb me would forget to copy it before trying to post, and then kick myself when it was gone. The first time it happened, I tried kicking the computer, but it kicked back, so after that I just figured I would cut out the middle component and kick myself.

I couldn't find the magical 'grey pencil', to start a discussion on my 'discussion' link. Could be a snafu.

I think I might have already responded to you in a different discussion, but the "discussion pencil" is in the upper right-hand corner next to the search oval.

@purplealabaster It should be, but that isn't always the case...at least when it comes to cell phones.

They probably will not go back the other way. Just remind yourself what a pain it is on the phone and maybe you will not be tempted.

Oh, I already know that, but with being a woman I can't help but try! Unfortunately, @tammyr gave me a great tip, so it's too late. I'll be even more tempted than ever now! lol

I can do some writing and commenting on my tablet, but I would never manage on a phone. I like the layout, but most sites are difficult to write to on a phone, I think.

This is why I always draft my posts in Word document first. I have had experiences of that sort.

I haven't attempted myLot on my phone yet. I don't think any of these sites like me when I use the phone - I get so frustrated not being able to do things (even typing) as quickly as I do on the computer at home.

Honestly, I'm impressed that you can manage myLot on a phone. I tried it on my tablet, but found the layout absolutely miserable for mobile viewing. I'm not sure that I feel myLot should go back to the old layout... but I definitely would like to see them roll out something that allows easier mobile browsing. An app would be nice *ducks flying produce* but I can't see that happening until a lot more of the kinks get ironed out of the site.

I never read after completing the typing of the discussion or response every time. May be some time I may check for spelling mistakes since long time I am posting discussions without reading them again
