I have always wanted to write a book, a collection of my poetry. I also have a novel in the back of my mind, but that may not be for now. I also want to write a couple of spiritual books. I have dreamed of writing books for years now, maybe since I was a child. Have you wanted to write books? what kind of a book/s would it be? Autobiography, fiction, poetry, children's book, self help books - take your pick. I have been working on my poetry collection for a few months now.. But haven't gotten into this seriously. I know it is lot of work. However, it is a long term dream. Have you ever wanted to write a book?

I wanted to write a book when I was younger. Writing is my hobby so I thought it'd be nice to make it my career. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work. I still write for fun but I don't think I can publish anything.

@/kataomoi It is s lot of working trying to get something published. Writing is an art which needs practice and maybe you could keep working on your dream to publish your book.. I have been working and I know it is going to take a lot more work than this..but I am prepared for it.

True... but I think it's better for me to just write for fun. There's no pressure and I can write whatever I want, whenever I want. So even though it's nice to publish something, I think I'll just keep writing as my hobby.

Oh yes, absolutely. I have published an ebook with some kind of tutorial three years ago but it's only about 30 pages. I'd love to write more regarding pages and books in general but it is too time consuming :-(

@stine1online I know its easy to self publish..I am talking about finding a publisher to publish a hard bound or paper back book. I am familiar with smashwords.

@sofssu Well, it wasn't really that hard to publish the ebook since there are so many sites where you can do it for free. I have published it through Smashwords.com and they even add it to sites like Barnes & Noble and iTunes. And I uploaded it to Amazon since Smashwords did not do that. Totally easy :-)

Yes. I always wanted to write a book on my own life, as it has lots of twists and turns and shocks, disappointments and surprises, affections and utter selfishness and what not. I wrote the first chapter too. But then I thought why to make my life public as some people connected to my life, will know that it is my life and others will also come to know from them. So for now, I left that thought, though the first chapter is lying in my box.

@Buchi_bulla how about taking the basic story and converting it into a novel. It may not cayuse the same problems an auto biography can cause.

@sofssu Oh, there are several kinds. That's probably one of the reasons why I haven't been able to start. I can't seem to settle on just one!

I have a fear of writing a book. I fear getting halfway through and not knowing how it ends.

@Rollo1 I guess until you write you'll never know how it ends.. Its always that way for me.. though I start with some idea things change and the writing takes a life of its own. I think you should go for it..you may discover something you've never thought possible.

Writing a book takes years. I too have that in mind but I do not think I will see its completion although I have already chosen the title

@sofssu I have only read about those who have taken years to write a book and that is not the end but worse are rejections. Here is a link you might like to visit

@allknowing yes rejections and corrections are the rights of publishers. LOL that is something one has to be prepared for before writing a book.. I don't dispute that.. what I am stating is it doesn't always have to be years of work.

@allknowing I have the title and half the contents ready.. but I am stuck and its not going the way I want it to.. I don't think it takes years necessarily. My friends has written two books in a year and they are doing okay I guess.

I've always wanted to write a book of my own. It would contain the short stories and poetry that I've written all these years. A book containing all my sarcasm would be great too but I'm afraid no publisher and editor will want to be associated with it! LOL!

@allen0187I agree with the short stories and poetry. If you turn sarcasm into poetry it would also work.. satire is a well know form of poetic expression.

Believe it or not, in my mid 20s, I had this wild notion to write a book. It's when I was into Danielle Steele.. It was gonna be a romance novel. I did get about 17-18 chapters written. Then life intervened, and I never went back to it. Have no clue where it is now.

@sofssu I seriously doubt I could be another Danielle Steele.. But thanks for your vote of confidence. Maybe some day, I will hunt it back up. Perhaps in my golden years.

My dream is to finish the story I started and publish it. I have been writing it off and on. I also have a collection of poetry and a couple of short stories. My dream job is to be an author, but I doubt I'll ever find the time and I need the right motivation.

@DanieGirl80587 I guess no one else can motivate you or fill in on that passion. It has to cone from within. But I will say this to you don't let go of your dream.. the nay sayers may be many; but if you can find it within you to do what you set out to do.. you will find fulfillment in your life.
