The Holy Bible IS A BOOK! The Word of God is REAL LIFE! God Is UnWritten!

The source of a lot of my 'disagreements with Christianity' is this: I value 'the reality in which we live' over 'the realities we imagine.' I understand God's Word to be the creative force; thus I understand the Holy Bible to be 'a Hallmark-card CELEBRATING a wedding-anniversary' than 'the actual partnership-contract itself.' It's like 'the employment-contract' versus 'the actual work I do and the actual money.' I don't carry around a xerox of my job-contract and use THAT to buy groceries. No, that contract is POWERLESS without 'my showing-up at the job' and 'the money my employer gives me.' That's one reason I hate it when people post Holy Bible verses to Facebook: It's like claiming you've "watched" a whole movie because you can remember a clip from one of the movie's commercials. When Facebookers do that, I'm going to ask them 'Who said this? When? Where? Why?' Because God only exists in-context. (Maybe he exists out-of-context too, but none of US HUMANS do!)

I believe that Bible is what God says it is - the Word of God as men inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote down and that it is good to meditate on scripture and that God can reveal Himself to us and His plan for our salvation through the Word which is Jesus Christ. No, it does you no good to know all the scripture and not know God. Even the devil can quote scripture. But if you let that creative Word into your spirit, it can bring about great changes and open your eyes to the nature of God.

I think my point is that 'all of what you (AnjaP @Rollo1) say is true,' but NOT BECAUSE IT'S WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE. It's true because GOD EXISTS IN THE REAL ('whether the stories you read are true or not' doesn't change reality).

@mythociate Yes, God is REAL in the NOW. I agree with you on that.

@Rollo1 What about God's law of love? Are we to regard 'people in the news' as our "neighbor, whom we are to love as our selves?"

I believe that God does exixt, as the bible says so, and how do you think the world was created It was created by God. He is in evertthing we see, the trees.flowers, sky, clouds, the stars, moon, sun, and much more.Without God, none of us would even be here, as he created us. Without God we are nothing, and can do nothing. That is the truth. Whether you want to believe that God exists or not is up to you, but I am standing on the Word of God, and say, yes he exists, now and forever.

No Evidence Available Either Way
I could tell you all sorts of other things said by the Bible just as plainly (if not more-so) and by other books just as- (if not more) verified by evidence, reason, real-life witness ... but you keep hammering that Bible-plank into your eyeball and-- well, I hope you enjoy that toasty warmth ... ehh, call it "The Holy Spirit"

The Bible is God's letter to us to let us know who he is and what he expects from us. A systematic study of God's word would give you great insight, Like Rosekiss said God said it, I believe it.

@mythociate Don't you think that an all powerful God could keep his word pure no matter how many times it was retold?

Do the trees talk to you? Have you ever played 'telephone' (one person thinks of a message and whispers it to one person, they whisper what they thought they heard to another person, and so-on)? How many re-tellings does a message there usually remain 'true to the original' through?

@mythociate The Holy Bible is Gods written word...Just because you do not believe it does not make it any less true.... If you do not know Gods word....and we all know that their are Good and Bad in this world...how do you know which you are following... That is why some of your comments make no sense...you are trying to make your own rules and are mixing good with evil, and all that brings is confusion... Yes God does exist , he is real..He is living....But the spirit of Evil, satan, and deamons exist also.... and it is satans job to destroy, and change the word of God and take what is his... by denining the Holy Bible for what it is....The written word of God....you have no idea what is right and wrong according to God...only what you believe what is right or wrong according to you...

@Bluedoll No we do not own this page, but on the other hand do each of us that put our thoughts down on it own a little piece of it..... Yes their are two examples of slavery in the bible....one for good.... but is the other what happen when man tries to change what God intended for good.. into something evil.. In one part when it got too out of hand God sent Moses, and God worked through Moses to free the slaves, and put a end too the evil.... Look at slaves in the United states....It started as a way to help people get here...a person payed someones passage, gave them room and board, food ect... until their debt was paid..usually 7 years was the contract made for...then they were able to go on and build a life for themselves... then man changed the laws into something evil...and over the years it evolved into something evil, ugly, and horrible.... When God had enough he sent people to do his work to stop it. It was eventually stopped.. Bad things always happen when man goes against, or tries to change Gods word.. When ever we give evil a inch it always takes a mile or more...... and it turns into something horrible,.

People would use 'the Holy Bible' to argue against slavery. Then others use THE EXACT SAME SELECTIONS FROM THE HOLY BIBLE to defend Slave-Ownership. But I'm the one that's mixed-up? I'm not saying 'I don't believe it's not God's written word.' What I'm saying is that the Holy Bible is MAN'S REPETITION OF MEN'S WORDS FROM LONG AGO. God speaks to you-&-I-&-everybody AS WE READ THE OLD WORDS, and THAT is the Word of God. But God doesn't STOP speaking when you shut the book! And I'm sorry you can't hear from God if God's not echoing 'what God said before.'

@mythociate Are you not a slave to this page? I think we work out over our thoughts and type with devotion but we are not the owner of this page are we. Perhaps slave in the bible in some locations was that of an apprentice, an honourable valuable profession while in other locations a poor man's dominated position.
