Any Regrets?

In my youth, I was considered a 'good girl'. I always tried to do the right thing and always played it safe. Even that didn't keep this old body from breaking down when I hit 50. Sometimes I wish I had been a little more adventuresome and hadn't been afraid to try new things. Now that I am older, I would love to be able to do and try new things but I am very limited due to medical issues. If only I knew then what I know today...I guess we could all say that to some extent. I guess my only regret is not taking more advantage of my youth and enjoying it to the fullest instead of being afraid that I would either fail or someone would make fun of me. What about you? Do you have any regrets in your life?

I have 2 grown children and 6 grandchildren so I understand what you say. They are my life! I love Arkansas! It is really beautiful right now, haven't experienced the Fall yet as we just moved here in February. We did have snow several times this past winter.

No, I don't have any regrets in life. I mean, I could play the 'what if' or 'could have been' game, but no, no regrets. For the things I did, made me and brought me to the place that I am now.

I like your way of thinking. As for me, I don't think that my one regret would have changed me tremendously except that maybe I wouldn't have been so meek and mild growing up.

I can't say that I have regrets. I believe that I lived my life to the fullest and I continue to do so. Back in the day, I've always said that it is better to look back and say 'i can't believe I did that!' rather than 'I wish I did that.' Age is nothing but a number. If you put your mind to it, you can do it.

@simone10 I got over my regrets because if I keep living with regrets and keep bringing the bad experiences of the past into the present I would only harm myself emotionally. I did regret the fact that I sometimes said some bad words to people but I have apologized to them and the regrets were over. The ones that I have not apologized to, if I ever meet them again I will apologize

That is wonderful that you have no regrets. I have several but nothing that keeps me from living my life. I believe that everything happens for a reason.

I am 27 and at this age itself I have a long list of regrets. Some I am able to get over and move on, others still disturb me. With age I think the burden of regret only increases if nothing is done about it. However I feel that even if a handful of those regrets could be pacified or fulfilled, life becomes much more happy. This is what I've been doing since last few months. Related to your story, I'd like to share this link that I think you might find useful: Most of them require traveling and given your medical condition I am not sure how much you'll find useful. Nonetheless, even if few of the regrets could be pacified, life becomes happy again. :) Take care. Have fun. :)
The Huffington Post has written about the 10 things everyone should do before they die. We've also written about the 10 trips everyone needs to take in their 50s. And we've listed the 50 things every

I wish I had taken a few more chances in life. Nothing drastic probably but I wish I hadn't been so afraid of life.

Everyone has regrets but as I get older I see that had I done things differently, my life would have changed, other people's lives might have changed and who knows what would have been the result of it all? So, no time for regrets, must push on.

Out of all of the things I have done in my life, that is the only regret I have and it's not an overpowering regret. It's just that if I had it to do over again, I would do it differently.

I grew up hard and fast but was always a good girl. I started my family young though. I made my life around my children and it is still that way... because a couple of them will never be able to live on their own, I will always be mom. I regret very few things and most that I do, weren't things I could change anyway. There are things I wanted to do but maybe I can still do.... like write that book I started.

I kind of did the same thing growing up. I was expected to be grown up as a child and I'm the one who took care of my younger siblings. I think you should write that book

Perhaps that happens to everyone. If only I had of done this or if I could go back I would do that. Only you didn't and some say if the past had not happened the way it did you wouldn't be who you are now. They say that about a successful person, his first attempts failed, that kind of thing. Still another chance at something might not be a bad idea.

You are right, everyone probably does have those thoughts at some time or other. And it is true, I may not be the person I am today if I had done some things differently.

I am sorry you feel this way. I don't regret anything from my childhood/rebellious teenage years. I did good at school during the weekdays, and during the weekends I lived it up, lol.

I have a few regrets but it mostly has to do with employment. I have not had a career and so now, I am really too old to start a career, I am drawing early Social Security and it is for a very small amount. I could have been more daring and independent when I was younger, but circumstances have forced me into more things as I have gotten older. I wish over all that I had been more assertive.

I know what you mean. I also wish I had been more assertive when I was younger instead of so meek and mild. Life gets in the way of our dreams and goals sometimes. I always wanted to be a nurse but I got married young and then had my two kids, then I was divorced and raising them on my own. I did get in the medical field (billing insurances) but not what my dream was.
