I read this on a facebook post some time ago and have tried it a few times. I love to bake and generally make things from scratch, but boy using this method really makes cakes taste like you made homemade. All you do is replace the oil with melted(and cooled) butter, replace the water with milk and use an extra egg. You will be surprised at the difference it makes.

Oh that is great Patti. I wish I had cake in the house tho. I try not to buy the box ones if I can help it.

Yes it does make a difference, I have done this before. I usually bake from scratch, but if you are in a hurry this Yums up a box mix!

When I was teen, I made cakes from scratch but if I had a mix, I would add a box of instant pudding to the mix and I think I had to increase the oil. But it made them very moist. I may try your method, sounds like the cake would be much richer and fluffier.

Yep! That works. Did it for years. But don't bake much any more.

When I saw the title I knew it was one of yours Patti! Problem is I always have water, I never have milk in the house.

I never use a box cake (I'm not even sure what you mean) but if you are going to replace half the ingredients anyway isn't that almost as much work as adding the flour and sugar?
