I have been going to the movies since 1940 and that was back in the days when they showed 2 films, a cartoon, world news, a short feature and coming attractions. I believe I have seen all the 'classics'. I still go to the movies EVERY Friday and sometimes Tuesdays. I am more into drama, romantic comedy, thrillers than special effect laden films. Don't ask me to pick 5 or 10 favorite films, actors, actresses, etc., because I have a hard time limiting the list to 100!!! Though not a prude I preferred the 'old days' when they hinted at---fireworks in the sky anyone?--than showing naked bodies having sex on the screen. I don't want to hear the "F" word nor do I want to see women defecating and/or urinating and/or anyone throwing up in movies! I am not into gratuitous violence. This past weekend I saw 2 films--one has to be the worst of the year and the other was a complete funny surprise!! Will post a review on them tonight and/or tomorrow. Any other film fans here?

The world has changed since the days of old. Movies these days try to depict reality. And the sad truth is that reality is not pretty. I like some of those old time movies, especially James Cagney type movies from those days. but some of the movies back then seemed like too much fluff. I guess it is the times I grew up in opposed to the times you grew up in. Generational.

I like movies of yesteryear and of today but not about kids growing up--been there, done that!

@GreatMartin Me to. But I like a good growing up movie from time to time. I like some of the old time movies also. And seeing those old movies and then seeing movies now, you see how far they came with cinematography.

I love going to the movies also but haven't been in a long time. When we lived in Vegas, there were reports of bedbugs in the theaters so that kept us from going for 5 years. Now with people going crazy and shooting people in theaters, it may be a while longer before we go again.

I do love me some movies, but I rarely go out to the theater anymore. I just wait for them to come to cable, on demand or netflix. Going to the movies has gotten to be too expensive. There just aren't taht many movies that are good enough to make it worth the money. When I was younger we went all the time. A local therater in town always had great packages for the summer so we could go to the movies at least once a week.
