Well I can't . I type with one finger on each hand.. Go ahead and laugh. but that is the truth. I have had so many of my colleagues who couldn't type either. Luckily for us we didn't have to do to much typing, just the mails and reports. Is there anyone here who cannot type the proper way?. please raise your hands

Yes, we all took computer typing classes in school where we were required to type the proper way. I really am glad that I can. I see so many people typing with one finger and I just don't understand how they can do that.

@sofssu I'm not sure. There are some programs you can buy if you don't want to take a class outside your home though. There may even be some websites online you can check out. Practice makes perfect!

and s at you some more. I like others had a typing class in school. Where we had to type at least 60 words per minute. I haven't timed myself lately, cause well, don't really care. I like doing things in my own time frame.

@sofssu If it makes you feel any better, you aren't along in this. I know quite a few people who do the point and peck method. As long as it gets the job done, is all that matters.

@Rosekitty Good on you .. does it hurt your hands.. especially the one you use the most? Do you have issues with having the letters all jumbled up.. the ones that need to come after landing up in front.. ??

Well, as a keypunch operator or data entry operator I spent my 40 year "career" punching keys on a keyboard and now when I am holding my cell phone in 1 hand and trying to type with the other I find I have to admire those of you who learned to type with 1 finger, to me it's frustrating

@sofssu uhh, no, I mean admire. I find it really hard to keypunch with only 1 finger especially since I am used to using both hands when keying

I took typing in high school so I do type the proper way. Most of the jobs I have had required typing and you had to pass a typing test to be hired.

@simone10 I wonder why they never had it here. Thankfully I had someone to take care of the typing..

Me too! Sadly i never learned how to type the proper way. My boss always makes fun of me coz i type rather loudly and my speed is just averge. Though that was never an issue, typing the wrong way stressed my wrist and fingers. Better learn the proper way??

Yes, I can touch type. It's something I learned in school many, many, many years ago when they still used typewriters.

I can't raise my hands. I am a good typist as I learned how to type in a manual typewriting machine when I completed the 10th class. I have passed typewriting examinations too in three languages. It is easy to learn how to type in a proper way. All you have to show some interest and time to spend.

I learned to touch type on the old typewriters. The one that you had to use the lever to move the paper carriage from the left to the right. So that was about 45 years ago.

@bluerubymoon53 The way you describe it brings memories flooding back to me and takes me to a different era altogether.. There was a certain smell associated with it.. an acidic kind o smell..I used to find it funny when all the keys got stuck.. I used to laugh so much as a kid when that happened to my father.. However, I never learned to type.

Why don't you take some typing lessons or something? It's not too late, I'm sure. In my late elementary school years, my teacher introduced me to a website that teaches you typing and even now I consider that it was a worthwhile use of my time. It feels really great to touch-type. It almost feels like I'm actually talking normally (rather than saying each letter) to the screen, but with my fingers instead of my mouth.

@foxontherails I tried,.. but I have all thumbs.. I am planning to give it another go.

I had typing courses when I was a teenager, I type with my ten fingers and without looking at the keyboard. This is handy.

I can type. When I have a full keyboard I do. On my iPad, I use a stylus and it is one handed and for all intents and purposes one finger.

Yep. I took keyboarding in high school and still remember where the keys are without having to think much about it. Different story with my phone though. I use one finger there. lol
