Yes..I am a Middle child..the one who would lay low to keep out of trouble but for some reason it always followed me wherever i went? I don't know if it was because i wanted attention so this was my way of getting it?? My oldest was like an adult always expecting us to be on our best behavior and the youngest was the Baby. So what did that leave me?..well time to hide and run off as much as i was able and come back when i knew i better to suffer the consequences.. What kind of darling were you?

I should have been born here as your only brother and probably the youngest in the family Wondering how wonderful it would have been

That's something we have in common, @ SIMPLYD. I'm also the first of 5, although we have 4 girls and one boy in my family. Like you say, sometimes the good examples we set as the eldest are not always taken onboard!

Well for one I was never a darling by any means. I am the oldest of five children and was flung out into the cruel world, even crueler than my homelife at that age of 14.

Ocean, how cruel to be flung out into the world at such a young age. I am sorry to hear about your home life also but you have made something of yourself just by being a soldier and you are a loving person that has compassion and love of God who could ask for more than that.

I am the baby. According to the birth order personality thing, I don't really fit. I was not spoiled. But, I was the most outspoken. The problem one. The one most likely to get spanked or yelled at by my father. My dad didn't cuss much around us, but I got him mad enough to. I am the most opinionated. Did my own thing. My too older sisters thought I was the favorite, but Dad always favored the oldest and my mother favored the middle sister. My mother told me that one time. And now that I am married, I think my parents like my husband best.

@savak03 My parents raised me that way. Physical needs were met, but not emotional. I don't recall an I love you crossing their lips ever. But, is any family ever completely, truly functional? Always seems to be a bit of dysfunction in there somewhere. What is with family liking spouses better? My sister said if her daughter and husband ever divorce she is keeping him. Isn't there a rule somewhere that you can't like them better than your own child/grandchild?

@Gwensmom Dysfunctional for sure. And every new family seems to have it's own brand of dysfunction. As far as a rule goes, I believe there should be one. Leave it to our government. They pass laws we don't need and let ones we need go without.

I bet you do, fufurinha....I often wish I too were the youngest! Everyone looks out for you and you get spoilt rotten by everyone. Although i'm the oldest, I'm also the smallest, so I still get the red carpet treatment as everyone feels protective of me :)

I'm a middle child too. I've always said that if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Oh, once in a great while, good luck struck, but so seldom to be notable. My brother, the elder, was something of a bully, because he was the oldest and the boy. My sister was bullet proof. This was the child that decided to go for a walk on the boardwalk alone pushing her stroller at 2...

I am a middle child also and I always looked up to my older and younger sister. But they mostly helped take care of me as I was sick alot growing up because of my heart condition and I'm thankful for them and my family helping me along the way. I don't mind being the middle child.

I am the eldest, and that is enough reason for them to deprive me of all I should have back then, right now. We are two brothers (and a big bunch of 42 brothers and sisters if I include all cousins on the list) and, even adding them does not resolve anything for me as I am still the eldest in the generation, today

I am the oldest among four of us,always leading my younger brothers and sister and always guiding them in their wrongful thoughts and bad habits, not really easy because when parents are not around I'm the one who do the duties and responsibilities.

Im the youngest of 3 and the only girl. I was supposed to be the baby and be spoiled but was never. The disadvantage of being an ony girl, they always expect you to help with the chores, but im lazy! What a pain. Our roles change though when it comes to decision making, our oldest is very immature so i get the lead.

I am the oldest of two, but since that was years ago, I don't remember all that much of my childhood, except to say, that my brother and I fought like cats and dogs. I do miss him as he is gone now. I do miss my childhood though. Oh to be young again.

Well I can tell you where that would leave you, you were the glue that held them both together. Maybe that works. I am the baby. My brother is the older one. And I was the one always getting into trouble for something. I guess they always considered my brother to be the good son.

hahaha.... that is really a big time suffering that u can hear from most of the people. Being the middle one is never easy. I can barely tell that because i am the youngest member of my family and blessed with only an elder brother. Perhaps, he can understand your feelings better as I have always been the one getting more attention from my parents.
