Groceries

I get so bored with grocery shopping. About the same thing every month. You can only go so far. I love hamburger but I just heard where some loon research people found that some percentage of our hamburger has beaver or ?? meat in it. Gross. How much can we really trust what we are consuming to be healthy and be what it actually says on the packaging?

They say ignorance is bliss. We were perfectly happy and healthy eating these foods before we knew what was in them. Besides, I've always grown up hearing there was nasty stuff in tuna, like spider parts etc. I still eat tuna though.

@celticeagle I wouldn't say it's all marketing, some of it may just be fear mongering, conspiracy theorists trying to scare the rest of the population into their beliefs. There are foods that I know are unhealthy, like cookies. They have a lot of fat and sugar. Those ingredients are unhealthy. But I still like to eat cookies and I'm not going to stop just because someone says sugar causes diabetes! I'll take my chances. We aren't going to live forever anyway. Might as well at least eat what we like while we're here.

it wouldn't surprised me.companies will do anything to save a buck if they think nobody's watching. i would think anything you buy in a store nowdays has a high chance of not being what it claims to be.

Mostly I eat clean. I do not eat meat as after surgery the thought of eating meat made me feel ill. Occasionally I eat a tiny piece of chicken or a mouthful of bacon as the smell is delicious but i physically get ill after doing so,Processed foods are out to so I eat fruit and veggies but I am too heavy on eating the starches I love wild salmon but this is a rare treat and do eat some fish but peas and beans are my staples.Vegetables are almost priced out of my budget because of the drought conditions. I was always wary of hamburger meat - theycan put any kind of meat to it, can't they?

Salmon is great! One of my all time favorites. If I could I would eat fish everyday. And being from Idaho I ld eat potatoes a lot too. Beans are good also buy my kids won't eat them so 't get them very often.

@celticeagle Soups are good and I pulse the cooked beans and add to the soup -it acts as a thickening agent and your kids won't know that its beans!
