I have always talked to my plants and have names for them and I have even played music for them as I heard that is something they would like. They also need water and sunlight along with plant food Do you talk to your plants, have names for them or play music for them If you do how does it make you feel Isn't it wonderful when a plant grows and looks healthy, I have some from very tiny and now very, very large

That is a beautiful plant Marcy! I have talked to plants yes, as I think they need it. I only have one plant now and I only just got that recently.

What type of plants do you have? I want to start an herb garden soon out on my deck, and was wondering if you have any pointers? I've heard that plants have different reactions to different types of music. For example, classical music makes them "appear" happier, healthier, and perkier.

I have some plants like philodendrons that I like the best. Mine like a nice calm level of music although I do play a lot of different type of music. Outside we have been growing hot peppers you need a good soil and water daily.

@Marcyaz Awesome! I definitely want to start out with basil, rosemary, and similar herbs, because I think those are better for beginners than plants like hot peppers. I'm also going to try out potatoes because they're so easy to grow.

@RachelDSims24 Some other things that are easy for beginners are carrots and peas. Actually peppers I put in a big plant outside with good soil and water every day or so and they do great but do need sunshine.

Yep Rose, they don't seem to answer us but as long as they are still alive and love us that is what matters.

At the moment we don't have any plants. We are still renovating our house, but when we finish the renovation we are going to buy some plants for the living room. I once read about an experiment. One group talked to their plants and the other group didn't talk to them. The plants that people talked to became larger and more beautiful than the plants in the other group.

Porcospino, I can believe that as my plants always grow quite large also and I am not really that good a plant person at least not like my mother was.

I think that plants may sense if someone cares about them and they react to what they're receiving. I find it very interesting because there are studies saying that plants and vegetables can feel some kind of pain when they are cut from their roots. Do you think it might be true?

I bet your mom talks to her plants and maybe even plays music for them. Good someone in the family has a green thumb as plants make such a nice addition to a home or apartment.

@lady1993 It sounds like your dog is a plant eater. You need to take control and make sure your dog understands no means no. I bet your mom was devastated as that is not a good thing to have happen.

I only hane one plant at home and it doesn't look very healthy. This is because I forget to water my plant sometimes and I also didn't know that it needs plant food. I guess I should start from the basics. I like yours, it is obvious that you care for this plant.

Yes, you must water your plant and give it plant food every so often. Make sure you have a good soil also and your plant is not in too big a holder for it.

@besweet If it is a brownish red color then it is really good soil.

@marcyaz My mother is very good in gardening and we always had beautiful plants at home, without any effort from me. Thank you for the helpful advice, I will check the soil as well. How can you see if the soil is good or not?

We have those plants in Jamaica and they are called crotons. I do talk to plants but it is something like ' Why don't you bloom?

I don't have plants. I am allergic to many. But I know for a fact that my mother used to have plants and always talked to them. Lots of people talk to their plants.

That just might be the reason that I can't grow indoor plants. I don't think that I have ever tried talking to my plants... indoors or out. But, I must be doing something right. My Orange Barberry loves me and won't stop growing.

I have not talked to my plants or played music for them. I bet that is why I am not good at growing plants. I need to start doing what you say.

I haven't ever talked to my plants. I have played music but not directly for my plants. I have heard that plants respond to music.

28 plants wow now that is a lot. You sing oh my those poor plants would surely not thrive so well. If I threatened to sing my plants would want to move to a new home.
