YOUTUBE - music or DIY?

It just occurred to me - do you use youtube more for music or for DIY - help for projects or 'how to'? I've used it occasionally for how to but mostly... I jam out to music and discover new things. The only thing I really dislike about it lately as a whole is how it has been taken over by ads and you cannot skip a lot of them. What's your favorite way to use YouTube?

By decree of the toddler, YouTube is to be used only to watch Kuuchan the owl take baths over and over and over again.
Occasionally we add a bit of variety and watch Kuuchan the owl eating, but then it's immediately back to the "owl baf."

@mommyboo No, Kuuchan is a western screech owl who seems to be a pet. There's a channel with lots of short video clips featuring the owl doing various things like bathing, eating, and freaking out at the sight of crows flying outside the window.

@yukimori Wow, that sounds like an owl reality show. I had no idea owls can be YouTube celebrities too.

I used to just watch music videos or just listen to the music while I'm doing something else. Here lately, though, I have been watching knitting and crocheting tutorial videos. I have even had to look up how to remove a SIM card from one of my phones and how to shut down my laptop cuz it's Windows 8.

I like to just use it for everything.
I do not make videos myself, but once I get on YouTube, it is very hard to get off of that site.
There is such a wealth of info on there.
You can learn just about anything.
And movies, free movies too!
Oh and Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Hawkwind hahaha and so on.

Im using Youtube in various ways. I do watch music videos, DIYs, movies , dance videos and for more entertainment I read comments on there that are equally or sometimes more amusing than the videos they are commenting on..

It used to be just to hear music. then you use it for the "how to" about things that interest you. pretty soon you find yourself follow certain people/channels and see their every video just because you like them....and then you get tired of most and go back to music for a while

I'm a music junkie so I often just have youtube playing in the background as I do other things. Right now I don't because the tv is on... but most of the time it is. I have a really long playlist of favorites, but sometimes I'll just look up something I want to hear and leave auto play on, and that's how I discover new music from familiar artists.

I usually watch how to videos on YouTube. I recently learned soapmaking from YouTube videos and they really help a lot!

What type of soap - like bars? Laundry soap? It's amazing what you can make with a few low cost ingredients by yourself! Sometimes I look up easy kids projects, crafts, etc. My daughter made glitter lip gloss before from a diy video, and we found instructions for how to tie dye shirts and she and her friend made the coolest tie dye shirts several years ago.

@mommyboo I agree! Yes I make soap bars, at first it was just a hobby that I wanted to try just because I thought it was really cool, but I ended up selling some of them to family and friends.

I use you tube primarily for listening to music.Other things come only after music.
