Split Personality and Dual Personality?

Hello Friends and Community I have never understood which one is for me. Consider this - I am always in two minds - because I believe everything has two sides. Front or Back or even Up or Down or even Black and White. and my favorite - should I have black coffee or cold coffee. Recently, someone in real world told me that I am suffering from Split Personality Syndrome (I never knew it was a Syndrome, anyway). But the other day, the same person said I am having a Dual Personality. I have already Google'd up the two words or phrases (if you call them that) and have understood some of what they mean. But now the serious issue is - How Do I fit myself in the right category or I am a sort of both. I need some guidance as I don't want to stay afloat mid waters. I need to get on this side or the other. Looking forward to your valuable analysis and feedback Cheers theSids.

As long as you are not talking to yourself and answering yourself you are ok.

I knew something was severely wrong with me I stay alone almost the entire day and night. I cannot keep staring the walls or the computer 24x7. So I do that self-talk many times. Any recommendations ?

I talk to myself sometimes , specially when i am walking going to the jeepeny stand to . I say to myself , " Go, go, go , some more steps " because i am in high heel and it's a long stretch of road before i finally arrive there panting . However , that is when no one is behind me or in front of me. I feel lighter that way .

I don't see the difference between split personality and dual personality ? It would mean that you are a schizophrenic. Personally, I tend to stay away of negative people, and I have a doubt about the positivity of the person who told this to you. If he is positive, it gives me some hope : if you are a schizophrenic, I will probably be the next Pope.

schizophrenic At least this term looks better than the Split Personality or the Dual Personality. I should get the person read something about this term and maybe this will be the next word for me If you are the next Pope, I am going to lobbying with you... but wait, I dont think I need to lobby with you. We already are in the same cupboard, right ?

Not really knowing you outside this place i have never seen you talk as a dual or split.. I only see you as a very complicated student who along with @topffer who has now changed his name to confuse me, goof off in my classroom..

Yes a split personality is more to do with the complexities of the mind where it takes another personality that it secretly admires or even hates ! I guess in a dual personality a person builds up two totally different personalities and lives them ..

@thesids LOL, Split personality is much more interesting whereas with careful planning one can attain a dual personality...Instead , you can go for multiple personalities like Sybil ! that would be fun !

@kiran8 I love the idea. Multiple Personalities- sounds interesting to me. I have located the movie "Sybil" bookmarked it. I will use it as a tutoring / mentoring guide.

@kiran8 What do you think - which one should I get into I already have a complex mind like many others - which is constantly thinking and I also have traits of a person who builds up different personalities

One would have to be formally diagnosed with those disorders to have them I believe Sids. All of us have this to some degree, but the serious type is just that..serious but can be helped in some ways. Whatever the diagnosis of any of us, we are all handling us in myLot lolz

I know and unfortunately, we do not have such facilities to get evaluated for these problems here. And that is why I thought to put it up here... at MyLot. The friends and community is great as always

@TiarasOceanView It is difficult to get the right doctors specially in such cases. Even with the normal ailments - many times you land up at a doctor who knows practically nothing but minting monies on your ailments.

The person who said this to you obviously has no clue about what this means in psychiatric terms. You are just on the hedge,, unable to make up your mind on stuff. that isn't anything serious.. most people are double minded.

@thesids Take this from me, I am a mental health professional and ..its just your self worth playing up. you are fine.. no need to worry. Self talk is something I do.. most sports stars do if you've noticed.. if you are carrying on a conversation with people who don't exist or not there in a serious sort of way and can't think and act rationally .. you need to worry. Just forget what your friend said.

Nah you don't have dual personality. You only have your good and bad side like the rest of us. Maybe you have something else? There are some US shows that will give you an idea of how split personality works. You can watch the movie Fight Club (Edward Norton, Brad Pitt) or you can watch the most recent TV show called Mr. Robot. I love both by the way.

I wonder if you are Libra like me - Libras are supposed to be indecisive - always trying to look for a balance (like the scale symbol). I don't think I have these conditions but people have told me similar things. I do a lot of role playing depending on who I am with - I tend to be a sort of chameleon - I can be a goofy gal or be quite serious. I can say what I want - but at times be quiet as a mouse. I can be a lot of people. I don't have a personality disorder - I'm just a good actress!

@thesids Ah, yes, just like me! This must be why we get along so well - we are very much alike! I know the feeling of the imperfect perfectionist. Although we are intentionally aware, we act unintentionally. What can we do but sit in the back of the classroom to compare notes on this!

Libra I am at the end of it and the start of Virgo Being born on a day and at a time when they transition - cusp. Practically whatever you have written I have been literally told all of that over the past several years by many who know me in person. 1. role playing depending on who I am with 2. I can change hats at the wink of an eye and a lot lot more. Personally, I never try doing this intentionally. My problem goes beyond because one part of me says Perfection never exists, and other part says I need to be perfect. The battle has been inside since years.

Hi Sid, I know this person as spitual- mix of both split+dual.. pls do not goolge this word. Staying up all day alone definitely do not make you change you overnight just because someone told you something. You are a strong and a positive person who can boost up others with cold coffee or hot coffee... cheers!

I am still trying to understand the splitual-mix. It sounds good to me at least when I try speaking it aloud Cold coffee is just the right thing in this hot climate. Cheers

There is always someone coming up with something they read and applying it. But many apply it wrongly. Who is an expert? I'm sure not. If someone is an extrovert or an introvert it doesn't mean they are a pervert. Nor do the terms mean a person can't have a little of both. Label me not!

You can tell it by yourself when you have those personalities because as it is starting to happen, you can notice different sides of you, different than the usual.

If you know that you have two personality, this means you have a "dual personality" and not a split.

How can I tell? I've never met you in person. I only know you through your written words. When you split a personality, it becomes a dual personality. Just like, when you split an apple, you have two half-apples.

I don't know much about split personality and dual personality, but in my view, when one can acknowledge issue or anything in two sides, it means you can use your logical very well and have mature point of view
