Stone or Loofah For Your Skin?

Skin hygiene is important too according to some health buffs. Not only is taking a bath important, sloughing off dead skin cells is also healthy for the body. Earlier I spent time sloughing off dead skin using a handy dandy piece of stone. I don't know if it's pumice or whatever. It's one of those rough but smooth enough stones that you can use to help remove what can be removed. What fun seeing the excess skin scrubbed off. As we don't have any bath tub, I showered first to make sure my skin gets wet and soaked long enough. By the time I was ready to scrub, the dead skin was soft and came off easily. Of course not everyone uses stone when bathing. Most people use loofah or a face towel but those two don't really get to slough off as much as like but it's good for everyday use. I hate loofah because it's too rough for me. Or maybe I used the wrong brand? I bought one twice before and never bothered with it again. I even found an article on loofah (check below) and it made me glad I don't use it anymore as it can actually spread more bacteria if it wasn't used and dried properly. Don't you just love sloughing off dead skin? (Oh no, the picture disappeared! Oh well...)
If you use a loofah to get clean, it may be time to rethink your shower routine. That spongy, handheld scrubber meant to exfoliate and lather suds around your naked body is actually the perfect hom

I love exfoliating my skin. I use scrub mitts like this. It feels so good everyday in the shower.

Oooh, haven't tried using one of those. Seems easy to use too. I think I bought something else but I've stored it somewhere I can't see.

I prefer a scrub for that. I also make my own bar soap sometimes and in some of them I put things like Turkish coffee and oat as a gentle scrub, they're awesome.

Nice. I used to use a face towel as scrub but now I rarely do. I was supposed to go to a bar soap making seminar but decided against it. I don't think I can get the right natural ingredients.

@owstalaga Yeah it helps if you know any supplier in your area that has the ingredients. I know one here so that's the only place I buy my ingredients from.

I never use any of those. Soap and hands are all good for me. I even dont have or use a bath tub though it looks all good and exciting when I see it in the adverts or movies. But wait, are we talking about bathing!!! I only get a bucket of water to wash off the dirt on me

Simplicity is the best for you then. But why only a bucket of water? Is water hard to get in your area? I've done that a few times and I always feel it's not enough.

@owstalaga If I start enjoying my bath, I wont come out until there is no more water in the overhead tank. So I keep it to the barest minimum time and within this I cannot spend more than a bucket of water

I have a long loofah made of towel that i can even use for my back. I would wash it well with soap after and hang it to dry . And before using it again i would wet it and scrub it a little . That way , i am sure it's clean .

i'm thinkin' yer usin' a pumice stone since ya say its gentle on yer skin. i do a sugar 'n honey scrub when i feel the need fer such. my skin is most sensitive 'n i've got to use great precautions on it. yepperz, those loofah's 'n scrubby thingies can surely carry the icky schtuff 'n most folks 've not a clue 's to such. kinda like those who don't close the lid to the loo 'fore they flush...yucky, icky germs.

I'm not sure if it's pumice. The pic got deleted when I put the link so I placed the pic in my other comment. Good thing I don't like using loofah. And I guess sugar and honey is another healthy option. Body scrub ftw!

@owstalaga the sugar exfoliates 'n the honey rehydrates. i also use homemade crocheted wash cloths.
