Earning without posting

This is my first post today, but I have already made 9 cents today. Now, that doesn't seem like a lot, but it's not bad considering that I didn't write any posts yet. All I have done is go around and read some posts and interact with them and my myLot friends. There are many places that only pay you for your posts and comments on your posts. Sure, I think I picked up a comment or two today, but I have written many more comments and comment responses than I have garnered on my own posts. That's why myLot is better, I think. It pays for interaction, which is how a community gets built. I don't post a lot of discussions. I am busy on a lot of sites. I appreciate being rewarded for my contributions, no matter what form they take. Do you post a lot or interact with others more here?

I will reapnd or comment more, than I will start my own discussions. Mostly because it is hard to think of a topic of interest, and if it isn't interesting, I would be wasting my time, so I would rather just respond or comment to other discussions. At least I am interacting, and that is what mylot wants.

Me too. If I can't think of something interesting to discuss, I prefer to read other people's posts and comment on them. I always find something to relate with and I enjoy commenting :)

@besweet I feel the same way. If I cam't think of a topic, then I will read others discussions, and respond to them if I can relate to the topic, or have something to ccontribute to the discussion.

It's nice to not have to come up with something if you aren't feeling inspired. Then you can just interact with other users and still earn.

I interact a lot more than I start discussions. I simply prefer it that way, it means I don't have to think as much.

I think that interacting is more important than writing.

I do a mixture. Sometime other people have an interesting topic going so I'll join in. Other times I just want to see what people think about something I said, or one of my photographs.

@Lushlala Very true, there are rules but of a different kind because you see that discussions that do nt come within the guidelines get deleted and if you have posted on one of them your earning too gets deleted..Thats how sometimes we see our earnings come down by a few cents..

@Rollo1 I totally agree! If there's one thing I like about this site, it's the fact that there's not a lot of pressure and too many rigid rules and regulations to observe all the time :)

I do not post a lot, I only post one discussion (may be two) every day, but I look around read and comment. I have noticed that passive earnings are good here.

Yes, I just signed in after a couple of hours because I went out and I made 8 cents while I was gone. We do need to stay active, but there is some earning that goes on while we sleep or shop or whatever.

@Rollo1 Yes, i've also noticed that you don't necessarily have to be on the site for residual money to accumulate. It's a very interesting site :)

I completely appreciate that the bank rises for all the interacting that we do here! I think it motivates everyone to interact everywhere - not just on our own posts. I guess I tend to interact here more than I post - I'd love to do more posting but this is all I have time for now.

That's the really great thing. It encourages interaction NOT because you have to comment to get people to comment on your posts so you can earn, but because you have to comment and interact if you want to earn.

Our older posts still work for us. Something you write today could attract readers, likes and comments in months or years to come, if found through links, tags and search engines. Even if you stop writing or visiting mylot for months (please don't) the chances are you'll gain some cents in your absence though nothing like what you'll get from on-going interaction.

A lot depends on what you write here, and of course, there's the option of writing something topical or newsy that will gain some interest outside of the site. Many just want to write about personal things - rants, raves, daily life occurrences. I do see that activity on the site when I am away does earn me a few cents and that's really encouraging.

Do things we write here get seen by non-members? That was essential on Epinions, and it was "supposed" to be relevant on "that other site," though it's hard to tell how much we were paid for non-member reads and how much was pocketed by...others.

That is good AnjaP. It depends on how busy I am that day if I make discussions or just respond.

I think one post a day is plenty. Maybe I could earn more with more posting, but I couldn't keep up with the comments, so not a good idea. Look how late I am to this comment...

So really you could earn on here without ever posting at all . Amazing. That's good if you can't think of anything to write about. However it wouldn't do if everybody did that, as there would be nothing to discuss!

Oh you earn when you post if people interact with your post, but you don't have to post if you don't want to. We do need active posters in order to function, of course. But in the old myLot you got a specific amount just to write a post and that has changed. It stops the serial posters who have nothing to say.

@Rollo1 I haven't read that many "drivel" posts here. It's good when people are less motivated to post just for the sake of posting (here's a picture of the spaghetti I had tonight), and more motivated to get involved in discussions, regardless of where that discussion is occurring.

@TheHorse That's true, though I'm not sure exactly what they pay you for. For instance I read somewhere that you weren't paid for comments on your own posts (other people's comments), but surely that can't be right.

Considering it's my first few hours I just comment and interact with others. There are already topics, so I don't really need to create my own to get going, especially since interaction helps generate revenue as well.

Obviously, we do need people to post discussions in order to keep going, but there's no pressure to write because you can contribute to the community in other ways - and you will get paid for those contributions. So, it's a little less stressful than other sites.

@Rollo1 Truthfully it's better than the other models because it encourages interaction and does the same thing without chasing people away. Some people are happy to comment and others are happy to post. A little of both is the best place to be in.

I interact more because I don't really expect my friends to read my posts if I am not meticulous about reading theirs, and alas, I just don't seem to have time to do both.

Yeah that's what I love about myLot too. It's definitely better than the rest. I'm not sure but I think this is the first and original site that started paying for what you post? Not sure though but it's definitely the first for me.

I think you will notice a change, they don't go up in real time. They are updated as the day progresses, so you may see a sudden jump and then nothing for a while.

That's really good! Better than interest in a bank. I don't even earn a penny but I haven't been here long yet.
