MADRID, Nov 23 (Reuters) - Real Betis winger David Odonkor is to have surgery on his knee in Germany and is expected to be out for about three months, the Primera Liga club said on Thursday. "The cartilage has come away from the kneecap" in the player's right knee, Betis doctor Tomas Calero told a news conference. "The German Football Federation will cover the cost of the surgery." The 22-year-old German international suffered a heavy blow to his kneecap in last week's 1-1 draw with Cyprus in a Euro 2008 qualifier. Odonkor, who was part of Germany's World Cup squad this year, joined Betis from Borussia Dortmund for six million euros ($7.78 million) during the close season. Betis are 16th in the Primera Liga and host Espanyol on Sunday.
