God’s grace is one of the most important truths in the Christian church today, yet it is probably one of the most over used words by Christians and non-Christians alike. People sometimes use the word grace without really knowing the true meaning. So what is the grace of God anyway? Grace translated in the Greek comes from the word “charis” which means kindness, blessing, favor which is un-earned, un-deserved and un-merited that God gives freely to whom He chooses without expecting anything in return. Grace is mercy not merit. You can’t buy it, earn it or achieve it. It is a free gift from God. Grace is God giving His greatest treasures at the expense of His son Jesus Christ and what He did for all of us at the cross. Jesus is God’s grace and grace comes through Jesus. “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men” { Titus 2:11 } Grace is God freely giving His un-conditional love, forgiveness, acceptance and help. It is getting what you don’t deserve and not getting what you do deserve. When we think about grace one of the best known Bible verses that comes to mind is { 2 Corinthians 12:9 } when Paul pleads with the Lord to remove the thorn in his flesh, and the Lord replies “ My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” So what all does God’s grace actually cover? God’s grace toward us is so enormous that it would be humanly impossible for us to fully comprehend the width, depth and bigness that His grace really is. You might say the magnitude of His grace is out of this world. To help us to better understand and appreciate God’s grace I have compiled a list of a few ways that God pours out His grace upon us. Although God’s grace is endless this should give us an idea and help keep us in the right perspective of how awesome His grace really is.
