Is it hard looking for a job or you asking too much??

I was off to one restaurant near office to have a lunch with friend. I was fascinated with white board announcement saying the restaurant need employees. Unlike any job vacancy which write the some requirements, this restaurant only have one requirement for applicant : "The applicant willing to work". It seems the restaurant show their frustration in looking for employee. I heard the conversation of two staffs that it was very hard to look for employee these days. The last employee they have were resigned only three days after working which sounds like a joke. In other situation, many people complaint how difficult to get a job. In fact, actually there are so many job around us. But people seems to be too choosy. They want prestige job and good salary, but at the same time, when they meet unsuitable boss or the job require overtime or more effort, they complaint and resign, say it's suck job. They confident to find better job with high salary, easy and flexible, effort less and give them prestige. So they keep searching and searching to find the perfect one. It's okay to be choosy at job actually, but if you're too much and don't realize where you coming from, it's not good idea. At last, some people who actually can find a job end up as jobless ( This is the current situation that hit the young generation in my country, more jobless because of own mistake )

This seems to be the same problem in many countries. The young generation want a good salary and they do not like to work hard, they are too choosy.

Yes, true, ana. They are too choosy but the situation actually doesn't allow them to be like that. The limitation like limited vacancy, economical situation, or industry growth should make them realize that finding a perfect job is possible only for few people

@redvakaurvaki It is the same here in Europe. The young people want to choose the perfect job, but the economic situation is not good, they should start and then try to find a better position.

This is true @LadyDuck. There is an exception here. It seems that farm kids are very good workers. I guess it is because they grew up having to work.

I think they're both problems. It's hard to look for a job AND people are too picky. That's why so many people are unemployed now. I mean, tons of people have degrees and want high paying jobs but not everyone can get them. If they're too picky, they'll just end up being unemployed for long periods of time.

Every years we have more graduates want to become employee, at the same time, the industry doesn't grow that big to accommodate them. The graduates should be redirected more to start a business than only look for a job

Yes, I think this happens in my country as well. I remember when I was still working in my previous company, when we were recruiting new entry staff, my boss brought in someone who was not very capable of doing work. We asked the boss about this, and he said it's not easy to get employees nowadays, especially young generation. We can't expect them to be like us, because it's just the generation has changed. We are looking for good attitude people, bring them in and train them. We just need to change our way of leading and guiding, as the new generation has changed. Maybe I am too old school.

@redvakaurvaki Yes, I think my ex-boss is really good too, but I quit the job as I become a stay at home mum now. I think it's good to find a company who really treasure the employees and think employees are the company's assets.

Either found another job. Or didn't like what they had to, the people or hours given. Heck, they could of got arrested and sitting in jail. Who knows. It could be a variety of reasons.

Honestly, I often meet this kind of quick resign. Even in one of most comfortable place I've ever worked, we easy to meet that kind of 1 day or 3 day resign

We have the same problem at my workplace. I have seen many people come and go because all they want is a paycheck, and not have to work to get it.

When working orientation is only about money, people will never satisfy. They would like to find 'a better' job and far better than other. Better job itself has ambiguity definition for him

Same situation here in my country. Many are very choosy when it comes to the type of work, salary and work environment. But in some cases when the employee turnover is very high it says a lot about the company/employer as well.

Yes, they expect too much but not ready to fulfill company's need. They can't stand with pressure and tend to like easy job with high salary

I think almost of the people now want to have a good and stable job with a right salary. Those employee who resigned after three days are people who has no work value, didn't see the importance of having a job when it's hard to get a right one.

@cgalavia That's what I mean. At least, if he quit, he knows how to say, at least, a permission

Yes, you got it dear. Sometimes people just leave job because of silly reason like they don't like it and keep changing his job any time. Usually this kind of people have less responsibility on themselves. If he is single or young, it would be okay. But if he keep this attitude till he gets married and on, he is in trouble
