Mark Twain is one of my favorite people. Born Samuel Langhome Clemens in November of 1835 he is better known by his pen name Mark Twain. He is best known for his Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer although his book The Innocents Abroad actually made more money. Seventeen years passed between Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. I think his home is in Hartford, Connecticut. It is lovely if you haven't seen it you can go below to the museum site to see it. He traveled a lot while he was a reporter and wrote his The Innocents Abroad. This was even more popular than his two works about Huck and Tom. He used another pen name as well as Mark Twain. It was Thomas Jefferson Snodgrass which I barrowed when in middle school. Both my friend Cindy and I became Sidney and Snodney Snodgrass for a period of time. We had a lot of fun with it. He married "Livy" and was married for 34 years. He was born and died during years when Hailey's Comet passed by earth. He was quoted as saying: “I came in with Halley's comet in 1835. It's coming again next year (1910), and I expect to go out with it."( I always find those who correctly predict ones death is always amazing to me.) He was a fascinating man.
Opened in 2003, The Webster Bank Museum Center at The Mark Twain House & Museum offers visitors an opportunity to learn more about Mark Twain, his family, the historic house, and the author's legacy. This state-of-the-art facility houses our ticket desk; t

I have a Mark Twain quote on profile page: "Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”. That is one of my favourite quotes. I didn't know that he used the name Thomas Jefferson Snodgrass as well. I have heard the story about Hailey's comet. I always found that story interesting.
