Encounter of the bird kind...

A post about a close encounter with a hummingbird reminded me of a bird encounter I have had. When I was very young, 3 or 4 I was running around in the backyard. We had these grape vines, you know those dusky purple ones, concord maybe, and I shot around one of them and bowled over 2 large feathered creatures. All I saw was beaks and feathers and claws. I screamed, the two things gobbled, and I screamed and ran back inside yelling about monsters.... dad went and checked and saw two fleeing adolescent male turkeys. I don't know who scared who more...

LOL .. I got pecked badly by a turkey when I was little. I have had a thing against turkeys after that.

At least you were not hurt. The more turkeys were probably scared more.

I believe that both you and the turkey were scared Turkeys usually do not hurt people, geese and swans are much more aggressive.

Pretty much, I think the noises they made were just freaked out, and I did actually kind of become a bowling ball to them being bowling pins. I have no doubt it LOOKED hilarious too, toddler and turkeys everywhere.
