Yesterday was the first day of the Special Youth Deer Hunt season of which there are 18 scheduled days for youths who must be at least 12 and not over 16 at the time of the hunt. They must attend a Mandatory Pre-Hunt orientation session. An adult must accompany a youth at all times. A Blaze Orange vest is required at all times during the hunt. The rifle/shotgun Boundary is in effect. I saw the sign yesterday and called les the fellow that own the fields in back of us and he said he never allowed any hunting back there but to be safe with my dogs he would encourage me not to let them out in the back for a few days. I did not hear any shots being fired like I have during normal hunting season.

Good thing you haven't heard any shots. It is not good to hurt any living things

I do not like hunting except for food as there are to many who want their heads to hang on their wall.

@Marcyaz I'm the same! I have a friend who's very big into hunting as a 'sport' and he has all these trophies up on the walls of his gorgeous house. I don't like it at all.

@writerjo Here where I live we don't have tiger, elephant, cheeta or lion. But we do have deer and some other animals and they do not allow a lot of tree cuttings but we do have plenty of lakes around.

@Marcyaz Not only deers , but other animals like Tiger , Elephants , Cheeta , Lion too. The Forests and atmosphere for those wild animals ain't good . I think the main reason would be the forests been destroyed and scarcity of water .

I'm glad you didn't hear any shots..i always hated deer season here cause they got carried away and always sot and killed my cats roaming..some just don't care about the decency of shooting and rules..

I have to be honest this scares me a bit. It's so sad thinking of all the deers being hurt and it's even worse when you realise there are so many people that don't even care at all so they don't follow the rules of hunting.

This was the first I had heard of this but I guess if you are going to teach your child to hunt it is a good thing.

I find deer hunting a total waste. Why kill innocent animals for sport? It never made sense to me. What is another specie decided that hunting humans was okay?

hunting for the fun of it is just not for me. I'm glad that hunting for 'sport' or fun as I see it, has been banned in my country :) Sadly, i think it's only a temporary ban, and then if the numbers soar again, hunting will be allowed again to help with culling.

I am against hunting for sport and always have been. I do understand that there are places where people have to hunt for food and that is understandable. I just don't understand the thrill of killing an animal just for the sport of it,

I would not like to hunt as I couldn't kill one of those beautiful animals, it would make me cry to see that. Tried to find a picture appropriate for this subject, thanks.

It's good that you didn't hear any shots, but to be safe, I wouldn't let my dogs outside either. Also, I don't think I like the idea of sending a child to hunt and kill deers even if it qas supervised at all times.
