Why is Art For Me?

When I'm sketching, or painting, I feel a sense of peace and purpose. Unless the art piece isn't being made for someone else, once it's being created I am very determined for the piece to turn out as my perfection. I "really" believe art is very therapeutically useful in so many ways. For example, I felt like I could explode , because I was angry, because of a situation that esculated I had no other way to release the adrenaline I had running through my blood, so I got out a piece of paper and felt more angry because I didn't know what to draw. I decided to look up anger (google) and selected images, I came across a picture of a women who looked exactly the way I felt. I started to draw, it ended up looking amazing. It was the same kind kind of release, someone else would be gratified by running and or working out. I shared this photo with friends on Facebook and received a lot of different responses. After the portrait was finished I felt free of my anger, literally felt like I channeled the anger right to the art piece. I felt so calm I was able to sleep peaceful and relaxed. I have so many more experiences to share. My next one will be about my experiences as a mother who lost her kids because of $

Hi Rachel! Art, be it sketching or painting, is surely very absorbing. Though I do not paint on sketch as regularly, as I did during my younger days, but I still feel fascinated by it.

@PrincessRachel30 Yes, we all need time for many things and time for us individually is so important. There are so many things and people requiring our time that sometimes its difficult to do.

sounds like you get a lot of cathartic release from your art and in many ways writing does the same for me. Be nice to see some of your art here some time.

I am so happy you were able to get your emotions out on a piece of paper creating an amazing image. I have heard of this kind of art therapy before and I think it's an awesome way to extend your emotions. Good for you!

Good that you at least have an outlet to expressed all those emotions. Plus I think the outcome always looks great when it's sincerely expressed from the heart. You should share some of those pictures someday.
