I have to share this story from the Dr. Phil show. This 32 year old man was left in the park when he was 10 years old. His mom took his sister and said they were gong to the store and just left him there. Three ladies found him and stayed with him until dark when they took him to the police. He was in foster care for four years before the family he knows now as his mom and dad happened to get him. It was supposed to be for a short period but they fought to him permanently. Rumors of her running with the Hell's Angels and her and her two kids living in squalor in a flop house. Fast forward 22 years when he had found his mom and went to see her. She was very weird. Was really on the defensive and it was obvious her daughter had meant more to her than he did by the way she spoke of 'her baby'. She admitted to being a alcoholic and drug addict. Told him to hit her if he wanted and just weird like that. He finally had to get up and leave. There is still the mystery of his sister. She had dropped out of school after the ninth grade and died soon after that. His mom say she was so upset and didn't understand what had happened. Some story of blood clot or ........?! On Dr. Phil he found the family he had never known. His mom's sister had been trying to find him since her mother died in 2001. She had become a policewomen and a detective all to try to find him. She searched the library and newspapers. She didn't stop working on finding him. On his dad's side of the family his half sister was looking for him too. Both were introduced to him for the first time on Dr. Phil. He is a surprisingly well rounded person for what has happened to him. He wasn't angry or held any negative feelings towards his mom. He just wanted to know what happened. He had been married for about ten years and has two children. You can believe he never leaves them at the park.

Some people were not meant to be parents. So good to hear that this boy turned out so good. Hope he has a good life, despite the wrong that was done to him.

Me too. I thought this was so sad. Can you even imagine leaving your child. She told a friend to go get him and put him in foster care for her. And this person did not do so. Lucky he had those three women that stood with him and were more of a mother to him that his own.

Sure is. He could have chosen to be angry and be a hoodlum and he didn't.

Yes! What a nice thing to learn after so many years of feeling no one cared about him.

Hmmm.... As hard as it was for him to face what he did, it sounds like he may be better off for it. Looking at what happened to his sister and how his mom is, he may not have turned out so well if she had kept him.

That is for sure TL, but he didn't need to left at a park either. I applaud the three women that stayed with him and the couple that wanted him three years into his foster experience.

The story probably had a happier ending than if he had never been abandoned.

True. But I still think the mother could have left him on a door step somewhere, not in a park promising to come back. His mom was afraid to do much because she was afraid she'd get caught and do prison for the rest of her life.

Such a sad story. I can't imagine how he must have felt at 10 years and being abandoned.
