Doorbell rang in the middle of the night

I was in a deep sleep, when all of a sudden, my pomeranian, started barking feriously, and ran into the living room. I was about to tell her to stop barking, when I heard the doorbell then too. I didn't know who it was, so I yelled out , and asked who it was. When I heard police department, I was frantic, as I didn't know what to think. I opened the door, and there stood four officers, and the whole enchilada. Police cars, paramedic truck and fire engine. Basically, what it was, they had heard an alarm, or what they thought was an alarm coming from the garage. I told them it wasn't an alarm, as it was an old smoke detector, that was beeping. I couldn't figure out how to get the battery out, so I throught it in the garbage. Well, it went nuts, and wouldn't stop beeping. Anyway, they werre concerned that something had happened, as they were called by the neighbors. I was glad they were there, but also, so embarrassed, as it was a false alarm. It did make me feel good though, that they thought enough of me to come and see if I was okay. I told them thank you, and I was glad they were there, and they were very glad it was a false alarm. In the light of all the police officer shootings lately, it was a very good thing that they were good cops who were willing to help if necessary. At least I know, that God forbid anything happen, that I can count of them being here for me.

Yes, I certainly did. I think they were very glad that it was a false alarm too. I never expected that to happen, and it is something that I will remember for a long time.

It was, as my first thought was what did I dowrong? That is the first time that has happened, and I hope it doesn't happen again. It was very scary, and afterwards, I had a hard time going back to sleep.

It was very embarrassing, that is for sure. I was embarrassed telling them what the beeping noise was. I am not sure what they thought, all I know is thery were glad it wasn't serious or that I got hurt. I am just wondering how many of those kinds of calls they get? I bet not many.

I was happy they were here, but ejmarrassed that they were called in the first place. The thing of it is, no one knew what it was, so they figured it was best to call them to make sure I was safe.

@birjudanak Even though it was nothing to worry about, the fact that they came to my door, does show me they take their job seriously.

@rosekiss I had that experience . I called the police long time ago because the laborers of the new house being constructed beside us were shouting bad words at us . They arrived after 10 minutes . Complete with rifles.

Oh wow. That was thoughtful of the neighbors who called in a report for you, and the officers responding to the call. However, did you get at least one of them to tend to the alarm for you?

@TexanTornado Actually, after they left, I did laugh about it as I thought it was funny and embarrassing. I got my laugh early that day.

No, as it was at the bottom of the dumpster. i wouldn't want them to root through the garbage to get to it. Anyway, it is gone now as they came picked the garbage up today.

@sofssu That is the best part of it, as I know that they will here if and when I ever need them. I am sure that it was an embarrassment though, as much as it was an embarrassement for me as well.

I'm surprised that you were able to go to sleep while it was beeping, but glad that you can rely on the police if you should need them.

Once I put it in the garbage dumpster, I never heard it anymore, but the neighbors did. That is why the police were called. At least I can rely on them when I need them.

@simone10 Having caring neighbors is great as I know I can depend on them. The sturdents probably just don't think about helping other people in that way.

It is great that your neighbors and the police responded as such. Are you close to your neighbors? It helps when folks help each other out. Glad nothing was seriously wrong. A great story to tell to friends and family.

Actually, I don't really talk to my neighbors, but the one next door to me came to my door the day before and said she heard the alarm and wondered what it was. I told her, but I thihk she may have told the police which is fine too.
