The Four Elements of A Well Rounded Life

Happiness -The secret of happiness is finding those positive things that make you feel good. Family and work are two that usually come up first in your mind. But to have a well rounded life you have to be happy inside as well as out. What makes you happy? For me it learning new things and a strength within that keeps me solid even when I am depressed. Contentment- The definition for contentment is 'satisfaction'. Are we happy with the decisions and roads our lives have taken? If you approach your life with humility and seek knowledge the availability of contentment will always be there. The grateful heart is the beginning of your own greatness. Be thankful for what you have. Whatever we are waiting for - peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance - it will surely come to us, but only when we are ready to receive it with an open and grateful heart. Good Friends- Loving and giving ourselves to our friends is an act of faith. A friend is one to whom one can pour out all the contents of ones heart, chaff and grain together knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keeping what is worth keeping, and, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away. Good Food-The best recipes are done with love. The ones mom made. Good food is not only what we eat but how we eat and who we eat with. Eating mindfully and making it special will make it taste all the better.

Great discussion and so very true. So many people are always searching for what makes them happy and it's always right in front of their noses. It's not material things or a career although those can be nice at times.

Material things aren't that nice though without the other things mentioned.

@celticeagle I agree. I never have been one to cherish material things. It was just the way I was raised.

If we look around us there are plenty of little free things that can make us happy. The key of happiness is to appreciate what we own and never ask more.

Very well written and thought out. You are right on all counts. (Did you know that in order to have your headings in bold you need to type the word in the middle of the brackets?)

@crazyhorseladycx To get the bold just go to the mylot code, press the'B'. Two sets of brackets come up, just type whatever you want to be bold in the middle of them.

I agree with all of them. Happiness is a combination of having all of them.

I need more good friends in my life. It's hard to find people I can talk to sometimes. But then again the more people I know the more chances of finding more good friends.

@celticeagle Aw... At least you must be in constant connection online even if your best friend is halfway across the US.

I have had TWO good friends in my life. I am very particular. It's a tough row to hold at times My BFF lives half way across the country from me now.

Reading this it all makes perfect sense, and it all sounds completely simple and logical. Applying these things to our daily life, on the other hand, is far more difficult and takes a lot of patience and practice.

@celticeagle Absolutely it is something that we should try to do ... and keep trying until we get it right. Unfortunately, there are some of us that may never achieve it, but working towards it should still help enrich and enhance our lives.

Each element is directly connected to the others. I consider food to be an extra that goes with everything. Happiness comes from inside, it has to do with the way we perceive our everyday life and habits. Appreciation of the little moments can make us happy. Somedays I wake up earlier than usual to enjoy my coffee on the balcony before I start my day. This habit brings me pleasure, it makes me happy and gives me energy for the rest of the day.

I think since happiness is out of reach for most people, peace and health would be my number one on the list.

“Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.” Robert A. Heinlein - I thought I would share - we are the happiness of others
