If the person know me well. I want gift because I know he would choose a gift that I am going to appreciate. If we know each other not a long time. I prefer money so I can buy the things I want. How about you?

I guess it depends on how much money is involved. If it is a lot, then I would rather have the money.

I receive few gifts these days. In my family we have chosen to perhaps share a nice meal together instead.

Sharing a nice meal is a good way to do instead give gifts.

Generally i do not like to receive gift from anyone in any form. It gives a feeling that we are expecting others hard earned money for free . So unless it becomes unavoidable i do not accept any gifts and return the equal value of things to them in any form for my satisfaction

Always money. I would rather we accumulate and keep an object to remind of the person rather than use a hand bag for a few years and throw it out.

I prefer a gift. When you get a gift from someone, you know that they thought of you as they picked it out. It's not about 'getting something', for me, it's about holding their thought in my hand. It's not about 'getting what I want', it's about seeing what they thought I would like...so I'd rather have a gift. However, for some people, gifting money is something they prefer, as they want to see you pick something out. In the end, it's all about the one who is giving you the gift, and what they want. I mean, I can get myself what I want, so a gift is special, it represents the person, and their thoughts :)

I like gifts but i also like money, as I can get what I want with the money. Uusally my daughter-in-law has great gifts for me, so I never have to worry about not liking them, or getting me something i can't use.

I would rather get the money. i know it's said that it's the intention that matters but still i get many things as a gift that I don't actually need

I prefer money because anything else just can be easily earned. gifting is not my style but most of the other people like it. so surely i prefer to have money most of the time. because money can be saved and you can earn decently from the same.

I agree with you nothing worse than getting a gift you don't want or have a use for so money is great can't go wrong you get what you want and it accepted everywhere.

I prefer money because most of the time my friends and family never know what to get me for my birthday and Christmas and stuff, so if they give me money, I can go buy whatever I want.
