Will You Prefer To Read A Bestseller Or Hear Its Audiobook?

I am an inveterate fan and follower of the good old tome. Nothing is more powerful than what you conjure up in your mind when you read a novel-more so-if it happens to be a best seller. I still love my David Seltzers and Frederick Forsyths, more than the movies based on them. I like audio books of some great classics, which I wanted to read, but couldn't. I'm not sure if I'd like them, once I have read them. I have found out from experience, that movies based on many a bestseller-like the above two-are not as exciting as the original read. In spite of the stellar performance of some great actors. Would love to have your take on this.

I don't watch films very often, but do like a good book. The only time I listen to an audio book is if I'm driving a long way.

An audio books surely breaks the tedium of some thing monotonous. Like exercising, I usually hear my audio books when I exercise.

I do love a book, the page turner type.

I am afraid that if i were listening to a book, that I would get distracted and not hear it half the time.

Yes Anja! the distractions, are sure to rob you of the fun, as the continuity or reading, is sure to get broken. Unlike the quiet and peace, of your own pace, when you feel like reading a book.

Audio, I can do more than one thing with it like brush my teeth, take my bath, eat my food, and cook while listening. I can't do all such things with books, right? So I say Kindle is on its way into history.

I've never actually listened to an audio book so I can't really compare the experience. I don't think I would want to though, I'm happy with the experience of reading a paperback.

They say the pictures are better on the radio (than on the screen) and that's even more true in a book.

Your own impressions of the characters, I suppose, make the difference. Particularly with a must read book.

I would rather take my time and read a good old fashion book.

I read a book rather than watch a movie. I've never listened to an audio book and have no desire to do so until my eyes let me down. I do read Kindle books though.

I listened to one or two audio books recently, I liked them. But would certainly read the books, if I get the opportunity.

To me, there is nothing like holding a book in my hands and read. Do not like audio books at all.

I like to read a good book, to listen to an audiobook is not the same. You are more distracted, while when you read you are completely into the story. About movies, until now, I have not found a single movie that was as good as the original book.

So true! There is nothing like a good read. It is the best tranquilizer, after a hard days work, or even when you might be down.
