I remember when I contracted the writing bug...

It was when I was in the 4th grade(that's 1961). The author who wrote "Where The Red Fern Grows" came to the school. There was an assembly and he spoke to us. He had with him a manuscript that he had laid on the floor next to him. It was quite thick and he kept referring to it. Wilson Rawls. It is a story of a man who has an experience that reminds him of his child hood ,about him and the dogs he worked to buy. His adventure with them. It excited me so much to hear him speak and then later read the true story of him and his adventure with the hounds. I was hooked. Have been ever since.

Childhood, is the most beautiful period of our lives. Those beautiful memories keep you going when you are down and need an uplift.

@gregario888 ...now that is a good boy answer. I wish I had been good too. By the time I came to college, I was in company of slang. Local language. I had to learn it to survive.

@vandana7 I was petty good in languages right from my school days. Though I got a chance to demonstrate what I knew, only when reaching the college.

You were very lucky to have someone so famous visit your school. I don't remember anyone of that caliber ever speaking at any of my schools.

I do feel very fortunate. He was such an interesting person. No ego or anything. Just humble, nice man.

I have a confession to make. I have been bad. Well, it was like this. I changed from Hindi medium to English medium, and learned which witch is which. By the time I had read quite a few classics and was appreciated by English teachers. My seniors started giving me their homework, in the hostel, and I did their write ups for them. I got some goodies of course, treat at the canteen free of cost and stuff like that.

That's a good age. You must have a lot of stories, experiences, etc. to write about.

We missed to have famous people to visit when I went to school. It is a shame, writing is so important to communicate with others and express our feelings.

I had it early but it wasn't until my teens that I actually did anything with it.
