I am Boycotting Pumpkin Spice This Year

I just feel like the marketing industry has ruined it - and don't get me wrong I love a Pumpkin Space Latte from Starbucks as much as the next person. But it's gotten out of hand. Everything, everywhere is pumpkin spice this and that. I also used to love Baskin and Robbins Pumpkin ice cream that they rolled out this time of year. This year it's just too much of a good thing. I'm having some mint chocolate chip ice cream as I work tonight. Am I over-reacting? Do you feel like the marketing industry is ruining every holiday?

Nope, you are not over-reacting. The marketing industry has long been ruining every holiday.

@NeldaHoxie that's good. I think every one should do the same.

I'll be coming up with other (non-commercial) ways to celebrate.

We do not have pumpkin spice everything here, but I have to agree that the marketing industry is ruining the holidays.

@NeldaHoxie I have already seen candy canes on the shelves, this is ridiculous.

I never get caught up in those trends. Never had anything pumpkin spice. I grow my own pumpkins, I grew up on pumpkins and no one is going to spoil it for me.

That's very cool that you grow your own pumpkins. Fresh pumpkins make the best homemade pies.

I just find it kind of humorous every season that I see all the stuff. I'm not a huge pumpkin fan, but enjoy a few things here and there. I tend to like savory pumpkin things better than sweet. (i.e. pumpkin soup)

I don't remember when this started. I guess it's businesses trying to eek out dollars. I find it disturbing that everything is a monetary exchange these days.
