How often do you love what you do at your job? This question must have been asked to you multiple time by your parents. friends or some motivational guru trying to gauge your work life, but how often we answer it correctly. There are times when you feel that the work you are doing is too monotonous or there is no motivation to strive hard towards your goals. You then wait for the clock to tick 6 so that your day is over and you can get back to home. All these situations are a clear indication that you are not doing the job where your interest lies. Doing a work of your interest gives you an inner joy. In that case the time flies away so quickly that you don't even realize that you worked for so long. You go home satisfied and come back again next day with full zeal. This not only helps you achieve inner peace but also improves your performance. Have you found such interest of yours? Are you inculcating it in your daily life? Do share your experiences.

I do get bored but what can I do. Have to do it for the sake of money. Otherwise i'd not be doing it at all. Money is the reason I think many of us are locked into some sort of situation I guess and that is what matters.

@jstory07 I agree! Money is the greatest motivator. To get rid of boredom at work, you should pursue at least one interest everyday, be it reading book or workout. This helps you to maintain that balance in life.

There is no question of feeling bored at work. For me - work is like worship. I totally get myself immersed in work when in office. Finishing of a project or task is a passion for me. If I start a task I don't leave it unfinished. I believe that we are paid for our work so we should always be loyal to our employer. If we accomplish our tasks with due sincerity and honesty, we feel a sense of satisfaction when we return home in the evening. Interesting post.

I feel blessed to love the work that I do. The hours are not enough in a day. It's passion and the aim is not just about gettting the work done and getting paid. It's about excellence and fulfillment. I try my best to be better and better and achieve new things.

Over the course of my life I have had many different types of jobs. Some jobs I applied for and some I have created to fill a need. Most of the jobs that I have done I enjoyed, at least for awhile. Sometimes though your boss gets to the point where he takes advantage of your good nature and that gets old fast. I remember one temporary job I took that was a haven of peace and rest. This company was being sold and they needed someone to audit their account receivables and get an average of what was owed the company. For some it would be considered a tedious job I'm sure, because all I did was add up all the accounts in one list and divide by the number of accounts to get the average. I then wrote this in anther list. They gave me an office space to myself, removed from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the office. One of the permanent employees came back one day to check on me and asked if I wasn't bored. I told her that I had several small children at home along with an extended family that was helping care for my disabled husband, so this assignment was like a vacation for me. I loved the peace and quiet and the mindless work. I guess, what I'm trying to say is that anyone can dislike their job or like it. Mostly it is up to them which way they choose to look at it. Since we must work to earn a living we might as well make peace with what we have to do to make that living. There is no work that should be beneath us.

I started my career as a secretary and the only thing I hated was filing. So when my boss wanted a paper or the copy of a letter he would come to my cabin and say "Can you check your pile and see if that paper I want is there? " with a grin on his face.

In India, the conditions being what they are, offer you few offers which might let you have a job of your choice where you live. job dissatisfaction and consequent job attrition, are pretty natural, in monotonous jobs. To keep your motivation level, is a pretty tough deal.

Here is the thing, I like being super busy at work, or I do get bored, I have helped so many people with their projects , because the time goes by much faster when you are busy . I have had days that were very slow, so I ended up dusting for a bit. In this job I was allowed to use the internet, when there was down time.

I do not have time to get bored. I guess I am lucky enough to love my job and meet new people every day. If I had to stop work tomorrow I would miss it but I am also looking forward to retiring as I have so many things I want to do too!

I get pretty bored at "work" because sometimes there isn't a lot of work to do. It gets pretty annoying when its slow, however I haven't worked recently because I've been traveling from one state to another.

I did find this interest....writing. Unfortunately it's not what I am following as a career right now. Maybe sometime later in life. But yes, working in something your heart's not in becomes boring, whereas the opposite makes that work define who you are!
