The Difficulty Of Getting Doctors Appointments

I wanted to book an appointment for my asthma yesterday but when I rang they said they don't have any free appointments available until the 28th October! That is a whole 3 weeks away! It seems like it is getting harder and harder to get a doctors appointment nowadays.

This is not done at all! For doctors, patient should be a priority not the time. Hope you get an appointment soon.

@gudheart Really Disappointing attitude. You can try for some other asthma specialist doctor in your city.

@anushreem I might have to try and change GPs.

Hope you get an appointment soon. Better look for some other alternate doctor in case its very urgent. Rather than waiting its better to get some other doctor's appointment.

I am thinking I might start looking for a different doctors surgery.

I run into this problem a lot. The staff at the clinic I go to are frustrating because they never seem to want to make an appointment for me when I'm there in the office. They tell me they'll follow up with me, but never do... and by the time I think about it and manage to get through to a live person on the phone, the date I need isn't available. If they have a wait list for cancellations, maybe you can get on there and have them give you a call if something opens up sooner.

We were also told that if someone cancels then I can have one sooner.

Wow we have doctors at our beck and call here. Its rather silly to get an appointment after 3 weeks for a problem today.

Where do you live? In my village I can phone at 8.30am and be seen by 11.00am! That is just one of the advantages of the British National Health Service!

even drinking warm diluted milk with 1 spoon turmeric also helps to cure asthama. when u r have free time just keep 2 to 3 blackpeppers in ur mouth and keep sucking them slowly for longer time.it will be bit bitter and hot but good for asthama. steam inhalation also helpls in asthama. try to do breathing exercise like anulom vilom(yoga pranayam). i hope u will feel better after doing these.

Maybe it is time to shop around for a new doctor Doctors that have moved and are in a new associate program may be easier to get in to see than more established ones.

I think it depends on the doctor. It sounds as if you are in a jam though. I would visit the hospital if you cannot get an appointment with your doctor. Asthma is not fun and it is not the kind of illness to push by the side if you cannot get an appointment. Good luck to you.

I am not sure if going to the hospital will help as they only see you if you are referred or if it is an emergency. Thanks for luck :D

Shifting from city life to a semi rural setting has many advantages and one of them is better access to doctors apart from less traffic, , less crowds in malls and last but not the least less pollution. We have shifted to a semi rural town.

This is ridiculous, you should just go to the ER then.

ER would not see me for asthma issues unless it was an asthma attack.

I agree that it is needed an appointment in order to visit or ask an advice from a doctor.

Doctors today have so many patients plus some of them have duties at the hospital not to mention there is a shortage of doctors where I live.

I think it depends on where you live. I live in a city with a large well-known university, with a large, well-known medical center. As a result, there are what seems like a million doctors in this town, so getting an appointment with any of them is pretty quick and easy.

I think it is because we only have a couple in our area so they tend to be very busy.

Many people here have similar problems these days, although I am fortunate because my Doctor will see someone as long as they are prepared to wait their turn.
