Have You Ever Been Catfished?

As im at work catching up with purchase orders im watching mtvs tv show Catfish. Its about people who fall inlove online with strangers amd when they go to meet up they arent the person that they were talking to.
This has never happened to me personally but I have a friend who had a long term relationship with a stranger and when they finally met it was an actual ex con scamming people for money.
Do you watch Catfish? Has it ever happened to you?

I was Catfished once. I ordered Salmon and wound up with Tilapia.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX That's horrible. But some people fall for these things online. I have nothing against online dating, but one has to be extra careful when indulging in that opposed to real life face to face dating.

You would be surprised, On the show its mostly guys talking to troll looking like woman, they use images of their pretty friends and when they meet up, jaws always drop lol

I have watched the show a few times but not recently. I met someone online who lived a few hours away from me. We would chat online all the time and spoke on the phone a few times but every time we had decided we were going to meet something always came up. He would have to work or have some sort of emergency he had to handle at home. etc... I just finally decided he was married and just playing around online with other women. That was the only incident that I have been "catfished".

I have heard of that show and did see one or two episodes. It has never happened to me. I do have online friends but I have never met them in real life.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX,No,I have never watched the show.But yes,once a woman had tried to catfish me.She could have succeeded,but fortunately I realized her intentions.

I have seen Dr. Phil programs about catfishing.
The guy is sitting in Africa but has stolen someone's photo from the Internet and becomes that person. He is in love with a rich woman online.
She wants him to come to America to finally meet. On the way to the airplane, strange events happen. He is arrested and needs money for bail. He is in the hospital and needs to pay or they won't let him out. One disaster after another, all requiring more of her cash.
When the woman finally runs out of money, he disappears. She still sits there claiming that he loves her, is coming here and they will marry.

I have never been catfished but maybe that is because i have never done online dating. It is just awful to go there and find you have been talking to a different person he hee

@BACONSTRIPSXXX this is one of the main reason i don't like dating online. I cannot imagine having a picture of a young guy and then you met with a wrinkle man ha haa lol. I would faint on the spot
