How's your Internet speed?

Primarily I'm asking fellow Filipinos here this question, but I guess it would be great also to compare what we are getting with other countries. In the office we have a DSL service plan that's suppose to give us 13 Mbps download. This is actually worth PHP15,000.00 a month. But usually we are getting only about 8 Mbps on the average. and often times, specially these past few weeks, we are getting only about 5 Mbps or less. I'm from Roxas City, and our service provider is PLDT. I know that different areas and different service providers have different service quality. Where are you and what's your service provider and how's their service? (No offense to telco workers here, I just want to know. :D )

Oh Wow! And this is just from your home? Wow! Filipinos are just dreaming of getting an Internet connection that fast. And I hope you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying for this? (In US $ please). Here in the Philippines, we would probably pay about $2,000.00 a month to get that speed.

@wiLLmaH wow! With that rate, in the Philippines, I will get only about 3 Mbps max. I'd be happy if I'll get an actual thoughput of 2 Mbs.

Ours is so far so good. We also use PLDT now. Not sure how many mbps though because I don't bother. A line is always better than USB sticks which are always sucky and uber slow.

@jrlcentral Aw too bad. Maybe you can switch providers if another one is better.

True, a line is always more stable than the USB stick or pocket wifi Although, Globe has been offering bigger bandwidth on their 4G and LTE services lately. PLDT here is very unstable in our place though

I have a pretty good internet speed with unlimited download. It's going to get even better soon. They're working on replacing the old copper to new optical copper cables as part of the upgrades from analog to digital internet service.
