Oh boy, never thought I'd see the day when a guy tells me their betrothed is actually a guy. A customer called in today and told me he is calling in for his fiancee, I of course assumed it was a she so asked for HER name. Wham! Sorry all, she's actually a he. I do have gay friends but I've never met any gay person with a fiance before. There's always a first for everything eh? Would you be surprised as I was if you experienced what happened today?

As a gay man, no I wouldn't be but I am against using such terms as fiancee, husband, wife, etc., as they are heterosexual terms and with their failure rates of marriage I think we gays should come up with better/different terms!

Oh that would be nice, a term for you all. It was him who said fiancee so I assumed female. If he had said boyfriend or partner I wouldn't have been surprised.

Yeah I was. I was surprised I even told my coworker about it. Unfortunately she's been to Canada so I think she wasn't as surprised as I was and was more like "no reaction". Now that I think about it, I should have told someone else.

Yes it was not very shocking but I kinda got the feeling of a mild "mind electrocution" or something.

You must be quite young to never have experienced that.

Nope it's just not common around here. Actually it's rare as far as I know.

Once upon a time I would have been shocked, but those days are gone forever. It is a way of life now.

I've dealt with that a fair amount at my job. I always make sure to be a little extra nice to them because I know they get a lot of crap.

Oh well it was the first time I heard of it. And then when I got a female pair after a month I wasn't as surprised as before.
