Yet Another Food Post, This Time Cheesecake

I know some of you will be thinking I seem rather obsessed with food at the moment, so many of my posts have centred around it. Sorry, this is yet another one. Last night my sister-in-law came over for dinner to celebrate her birthday of a couple of days ago. We didn't have anything fancy, roast chicken and vegetables, plus a cheesecake for dessert. This wasn't just any cheesecake, but a raspberry and white chocolate one, one of my favourite sweet combinations. I wish I could say I'd made the cheesecake myself, but I didn't. It was from the supermarket. I took a bit of a risk here, as my sister-in-law is an expert cheesecake maker. But all turned out fine, it was rather delicious. I know, from reading discussion posts here, that many of you are cheesecake fans. Do you have a favourite flavour? Do you buy them or make them yourself? Or are you really not a cheesecake fan?

I know that cheesecake is a great speciality in New York. --- Simple cheesecake can be a bit on the dry side. I prefer cheesecake with some kind of fruit, apples or peaches or mandarin orange. Hmmm!

This one had an amazing raspberry topping. I had some frozen raspberries I was going to thaw, but when I saw the topping I decided to save them for another time.

@Inlemay I've never made a baked one. My sister-in-law and I were talking about this last night. Gooseberries are hard to get here these days.

I love any cheesecake - even plain! I "can" make my own cheesecake, but then I would see all the lovely fattening ingredients and sugary goodness that goes into it . . . so I'd rather buy a cheesecake so I won't feel so guilty!

@valmnz I wanted to mention too that the last time we had it was at a popular restaurant called The Cheesecake Factory - for dessert the kids picked out the Snickers cheesecake . . . - it was gone in no time flat!!

I like cheesecake as I like many cakes (I have a sweet tooth). I prefer the cheesecake that do not need cooking and I like to top it with fruits, peaches and mangoes are my favorite, I also tried passion fruit and it was delicious.

I'm just starting out on using almond milk for that very dairy reason. I also use soy milk as well.

They're reasonably easy to make if you have the ingredients. Recipes are easy to find online I imagine.

I am obsessed with food as well. I enjoy reading new healthy recipes and dessert recipes. I am trying to have a healthy diet but I cen't resist a delicious cheesecake. I remember when I was in England, I used to buy the best cheesecake from Marks & Spenser. I was getting the full cake and then I was inviting my flatmates over to share it.

I do enjoy a small piece of raspberry or cherry cheesecake once in a while. Find it very hard to digest.

you are killing us with your late night (for us that is) food posts - we have to still sleep with those thoughts of cheesecake in our mind, and I have to get up early and make a milktart for the National Ballet examiner at 7 - eeeeek

@valmnz My cakes and tarts get GREAT marks which brings the examiners back - in many of the smaller cities the examiners expect the dancers to travel to the BIG cities, they fight over who is coming to Klerksdorp and that goes for the NY and Israeli ones as well. All jokes aside - No its for the National Education Dept - the examiner for the Grade 12 Dance Studies at the school
