I have come across some plant names that make me laugh, think or even meditate. Yesterday I came a across a post that mentioned Jacob's ladder. Its the name of a plant .. but has a great Biblical connotation and significance for me. We have been discussing the same thing in our Bible study for weeks now. Other names like Mother in laws tongue for sanservera satvia. corpse flower mother in laws cushion for a cactus ( mother in laws are singled out for funny names) Forget me not The wandering Jew Kiss me over the garden gate Lady's slippers Do you know of any funny sounding plants that evoke memories of objects or lead you into thought

@LadyDuck I haven't seen a bat plant, though the monkey face orchid is a very uncanny looking flower. Hot lips sounds very sensuous and though butter cups are common here the name does bring up some nice images.

@sofssu I swear that wasn't there the first time , or maybe it was and I forgot. Now I have to think of another one. Foxglove? I mean, do foxes wear gloves? How about cool plants like Deadly Nightshade? I mean, that would put you off planting it.

@Rollo1 LOL .. never mind but these two are really good.. imagine foxes with gloves and yeah the creepy deadly night shade. We have a few of the deadly night shade growing in the yard next to ours. How about shoe flower.. how could someone come up with name like that for a beautiful flower?

@Rollo1 I have listed that one.. yes I wonder who on earth comes up with such names.. Kiss me over the garden gate seems a little bit over the bend for a plant.
