HI mylotters Im almost 89 and now yesterday was informed in a few days I will be moved to rroom as they are puttin g in new car pet in the room where i am now. First since these new ownerc cametheres been nothing but changes. Too what upsets me is that my comuter and monitor and router will be shut down my phone too thus making me have to pay to get back on cable again and get my phone going again Last time they moved me it cost 21 dollars to be recable and rephoned. Is it silly of me to be upset with this? It will not kiill me of courser to be moved to another ro m but the last two times I was moved things were lost. Your take fellow mylotters

This is really awful and I sympathize with you for what you are going through. I hate moving too when recently I have to move from my table in the office into a room. Though it was in the same office, it was really very stressful and yes I had lost a few stationery.

@Hatley My heart really go out to you here and I'm "cussing" them on your behalf now. It is really silly and I have to ask the reason for paying on your redoing of the cables and electrical wiring.

I don't like changes either Sweetie so I know what you mean and it is awful that you have to pay again as well for your services and that ...... just tell them to make sure nothing gets lost this time hugs to you Sweetie

I can understand why you feel upset being moved since you said the last time they did you lost some things . This time , maybe you should take note of all that is inside your room and let them check and sign it before moving you out . That way , when some things gets lost , they will be responsible .

There is something I don't understand. 1) are they moving you out of your present room permanently? 2) do you have anyone to contact to have a say in what happens to you? On the subject of change. As we get older we become insecure. I am not sure why? Perhaps it is because we are not as strong? In any case some of that is not true. We can get things done. It is just a matter of talking to the right person. When you get older you find this out. You are still young being only 89.

@Hatley You could ask maybe? It might be worth to look at what is available to see if a new room is more to your liking. But if you like where you are now should ask to stay. I pictured in my head someone stuffing you in a closet while someone else gets the new carpet. (I don't like the new smell of carpets that much but it goes away fast) The main thing I think is you like your life and where you are is part of that. The cost is secondary. I do understand what you are saying. Sure you can inquire because this is important enough to take interest in. The place we live is does affect us so why not eh? They upgraded my modem today. It is only a small thing but I felt like you did. Why are they changing things when the old one works just fine but this one is better and at a cheaper price so I let them in with a smile. We tend as human beings to follow the same paths. I remember watching the cows go and return to the barn like clockwork. As long as the change is something we can welcome as better or what is best, why not? Any change is work and you want to gain something from that. Look to see an advantage as well as disadvantage?

I think that since they are insisting on the move, they should have to re-compensate you for getting your services moved. You might also ask your company if there is anything they can do to waive the fee, based on the situation, not all can, but some companies have discounts for installs.

@Hatley what's the worst they do if you ask? say no? then hem a bit, pretend you might want to disconnect and see if they can offer you a waived connection fee to not disconnect

hope your move goes as smoothly as possible, and you are back fully online soon and that this is the last time they disrupt things for you in this way

I am not one who appreciates a lot of change either. I think that they should have to pay for the re-establishment of the cable and internet access since they are moving you. Things were lost? Do you mean your valuables?

Oh, I don't blame you for being upset about this, especially since it doesn't sound like a temporary change. If I lived closer to you I'd volunteer to come over that day and make sure that they handled everything with care and all of your belongings were properly moved to the new room. If it came down to it, I'd bully them into paying for your internet service to be reconnected, too. When you contact the company that provides your services, explain that you've been a customer for a while and you've been moved. Don't be afraid to ask if they can waive the new connection fee. Sometimes they'll do it as a goodwill gesture or for customer retention.

Change is constant, so wise people say! Maybe, @hatley, they are making changes to make more money. Just like us we decided to change our minds by migrating to myLot while site B is not giving us more cents!

I think they should figure out a way to move you that doesn't cost you money. That would bother anyone. If it was just a room change, that would be a different matter.
