A lump on the wrist is better than a lump on the head

I had my annual medical checkup a couple of months back and passed with flying colors, needing no prescriptions or treatments for anything. I simply forgot to mention a lump on my left wrist just below the palm. It does not hurt and has been around for a few months. But, a lump of any kind needs scrutiny at my "advanced" age, so, since my doc was on rotation for Saturday this week, I was able to see him again. As we expected, it was nothing of any concern. He called it a "ganglion cyst," no treatment required, "a dime a dozen," as he put it. It was good to get that answer and not think about this little lump anymore.

An annual medical checkup? I presume that happens every year. . . I've not been to see a doctor since 1999 so I might be a little over due! Pleased that the cyst is nothing to worry about ;)

@enlightenedpsych2 It is good to avoid docs, but I am sold on annual checkups.

At least now you know that there is nothing to be worried about.

I had one of those some time ago and it disappeared on it's own. Glad you're healthy James, as I am.

Glad it was a false alarm. I have one of those on my knuckles. I have had it ever since my teachers wopped me on my left hand, because I'm a leftie and wouldn't change to my right hand.

I have a mini ganglion on my thumb. It hurt like heck when it first appeared, but settled down after a while. It's always worth getting medical input for lumps and bumps. Better safe than sorry.

Great news. It is always good to get things like that checked out. The mental worrying about something like that would bother me. (I suppose there is no other kind of worrying other than the mental kind) :) -Alan.
