Although there is food available for the garden birds all year round, we have cleaned and refilled ours ready for winter, it isn't cold enough yet for them to be making regular visits, but when they need a snack there will be food there :). We don't have any pets at our flat, but watching the birds visiting and enjoying our garden is almost as good.

Birds have learned to avoid our garden thanks to three killer cats. No matter what we put out, they have far too much sense to risk it.

Wish to have some bird houses here, but it is out of the question. We are not allowed such things in this apartment complex. It is quite a miserable place like that. I do find myself watching the birds land on the roof of the opposite apartment building though. Guess this place cant stop the birds flying where they wish..they are free, unlike us.

I've given up feeding the birds because they stopped coming! Years ago I used to buy seed in 25 kg sacks. I cut down to 5 kg or so and even then it went mouldy at the bottom of the feeders because the birds stopped eating it fast enough. I noticed this about 2 or 3 years ago so it's not connected to when we moved house (8 years ago) or when we got Pup (this year). Do you still get plenty of 'customers'?

We are lucky I think, we do have a good customer base, even with neighbours cats and stuff, there is a good feeder station a few gardens down so maybe they know this part of town is good for places to eat lol.

My feeders are being mobbed and have been for weeks with gold finches and now pine siskins and sparrows. I took a part-time job in a specialty birding store and get good discount on my seed.
