Typhoon Lando

Typhoon Lando (international name Koppu) hit the northeastern region of the Philippines Sunday, October 18th, and moved across the island of Luzon.
We were not affected that much in this area of the National Capital Region (also in the island of Luzon). It did rain here, but not heavy nor long enough to cause traffic jams and sidewalk-high flash floods in this residential area.
It was also quite windy here, but not as strong and fearful as Typhoon Glenda (international name Rammasun) in July 2014, which littered our streets with leaves, twigs and branches and you could hear a lot of banging or flapping sounds overhead.
The electricity never blinked, either. I did remember the internet being slow once.
Yesterday, the sun shone around 10am to 3pm. Today actually started out hot and sunny, and occasionally breezy, so last night's still damp laundry were taken out to dry on the clothesline.
But now it is afternoon and it is overcast and humid again. That's why I always have my folding umbrella in my bag in case of scorching sun and sudden downpour.
Although I'm relieved our area here in Metro Manila hardly felt the 12th typhoon of 2015, who knows with the succeeding typhoons? This time, Typhoon Lando battered Central and Northern Luzon. In November 2013, Typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan) devastated the Visayas Region in the central part of the Philippines.

@salonga i would say the rain here came in bursts. it would rain suddenly with wind whipping the trees, then stop abruptly. but i do know there were floods and blackouts in other areas also here in metro manila.

@simplyd since we only have dry and wet season, it's not really a surprise if we had more until the end of the year.

@marlina our typhoons are either heavy nonstop rainfall, sometimes with thunder and ligthning, at forces dams to release water, or moderate rain but with strong winds.

@cgalavia yes we were 'lucky' this time. a relative in central luzon said the ricefields were affected, but what's important is they're okay.

News of typhoons from the Philippines always bring back memories of when I was a child living there and experienced how scared we were when typhoons come as we lived near the beach . I can never forget that tidal wave..

@cahaya we hardly felt it, no power interruption even, so you get that 'lucky but sad' feeling

It must be frightening to have so many typhoons in one year. I'm glad you were safe.
