I just come to think that people nowadays do not tell goodbyes to end up a conversations. Instead they are showing their thumbs up icon or they are just hitting a like button. Not so many people now bidding a “bye and a have great day ahead” and some just do not answer back, they will left you hanging for days. Haha! Maybe, that is the shortest way to cut off an interaction. Anyways! Hope to see you around myLotters! Have a great day/night ahead.

I am one of those who leave people hanging - sometimes for days - . But only because I am on and off the computer throughout the day - I am here when I am here!! Please forgive me - but as long as you are in my notifications, I should be able to get back to you! But I do think sometimes a "like" is a good way to end a conversation, at least here. It's nice to make "nice" comments at the end to be polite, but I think admin doesn't want us to give those short comments like "thank you" on all of our comments.

I personally avoid saying goodbye but would rather place an emoticon and hit like. Saying good bye does not seem to be appropriate because I am not really going away but just around the community

Some people really do not want to say "goodbyes". I understand that! Have a great day ahead @salonga!

May because there are a lot of things shown in social media nowadays that make people want to view most of them. I'm kinda guilty myself. I just read in a few seconds on some post and just hit like and go to another posts. Its kind of different here in mylot though. The more we view on some post the more we like to comment here.

I do sometimes hit the like button when I have nothing more to add to a conversation here. It's my way of saying I've read your rsponse or comment but have nothing more to add.

I hit the like button, if there is nothing to add to conversation. I try my best to prolong the conversation because I like interaction. Putting a thumps up is also fine to end the conversation (this is in context of mylot discussions only). I many a times add icon of 'nice day', when ending a conversation here on mylot.

My grand-dad used to finish what he was saying on the phone and hang up abruptly - no goodbyes or anything - people often rang him back thinking the line had been cut off in mid conversation and he'd sometimes just do it again. Many friends often just leave parties without goodbyes. I prefer decent closure. Many online conversations just end as if the person on the other end was abducted in some way too.

end of discussion - ha ha because I gave it a Like - you made a very valid point - sometimes we dont have time to join in the debate or conversation so we leave a LIKE that you know we have read. Some Lotters cannot be in so many places at once.

It actually occurred to me today that it could be seen as a "passive-aggressive" thing to do if you don't comment as well. We're here for comments, not likes! (Now don't you dare like this comment!)

I dont think like this. Like does not imply good bye. It means - I and you reach at the same conclusion. Likes can be used to close the discussion when you do not have sufficient time.

@wiLLmaH - Maybe but not always. Not all likes imply discussion closed. In fact, only the post owner has the authority to completely close any discussion. Others can simply stop commenting themselves but cannot close the entire discussion themselves.

Doesn't make sense to me either.. If I agree with something ion that discussion I tell the person what and why I agree with.. Yeah there are those others who don't respond.. to your comments or selectively respond to some.. its like insulting people.

To me it is like this. You answer back a person, they write again, and you answer, after like 6 times I think I have said it all. That is when I just hit like and leave a smiley face or a thumbs up to say thanks and I did enjoy talking. If they keep on and on I just sort of ignore them after this. There are some that I have answered more than 10 times and in the end they get off topic and that's when I stop and draw a lone.
