I have been working for some time now and I really want to start a business of my own. I have a lot of ideas but I am not sure how and when to start. I want to sell perfumes and make-up but this will only market women. I want to sell food or home-made food but I am worried about contamination or even spoilage. I want to run a grocery store or I want to be a rice dealer as these are really a necessity but I need a big capital and a place to start. As of now, I do not know how will I start so I am starting at simple ways to study business management. I am reading forums for tips and ideas that will be able to help me once I already have the place and the capital. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

@chiwasaki i remember a house here that only had a table and 3 dishes set up in their garage. i also had a officemate who would repack rice, garage setup also. just start small and simple.

Repacked rice is also good. I can buy a whole sack and I can sell them per kilo. It would be a very good start.

@chiwasaki her parents were against it, but she set it up anyway at the back of the house during weekends.

Keep it as low investment as possible. Be prepared to grow slowly. Low investment means you can absorb losses, and restart. Don't expect to win the first round. That rarely happens. Even if it happens, do not become complacent. Business is also about monitoring steadily.

I definitely agree with you. Regular monitoring and inventory is very important. Decisions should be well studied before making them.

Electronic shop here are also good but not really a necessity. People here are more focused on foods and drinks.

There are a lot of stringent rules when selling food products. Taking your business mgmt course is a great start! They have an Entrepreneurship Masters degree course at the school I am attending. I am thinking of taking that after I get my Bachelors degree.
