T'is the season to be Jolly - tra la la la la, la la la la . . . My consignment of Christmas cakes has arrived - I sell cakes for one of the Charity organisations in our area as they don't have enough manpower to do it alone. I get 120 cakes all in all and it takes me about 2 weeks to sell them. The clever thing is to make sure you catch everyone at a time when they have money - PAYDAY to be exact. So today I started advertising via my FB, with a poster at the schools and the bowling club and TA DA - I have sold 16 of the 120 already. 8$ for a 20cm x20 cm full fruit cake, whole cherries that just need a dash of brandy for the next month - delicious. Have you started preparing for the festive season . . . . I am off to bed - so remember to suggest me if you want me to read any of your posts when i awake from my beauty sleep. hehe

I do love Christmas cake, it is not something I can find easily in the US. I end up buying fruit cake.

@tuttiharris I do love the Claxton fruit cakes. I have started ordering from Collins Bakery in Texas and those are also delicious.

I should be making my fruitcake up. It is kind of you to sell for the charity. We can no longer suggest our own posts, but I was not doing so anyway.

I love cake - so I could have cake every day, but it must be something special - not just ordinary dry, sad cake

Thats a lot of christmas cakes! I made my christmas cakes and christmas puddings in Jan this year. The fruit had 2 months soaking in brandy, and then will have 9 months to mature and ripen. Yummy.

Where do you get them from? A good idea to start Christmas that has a great thought for others. I throw a party for poor kids each year. I am already collecting things to brighten up the day. This time I am going for poika dots - balloons, paper napkins.................and more all polka dotted. Have already got my balloons, have ordered for ribbons for the kids - 100 of them..............

8 dollars sounds cheap, we usually make one. My Christmas preparation so far consists of one present I've brought for my dad

I love baking cakes. I am also selling pecans for our church. We did really great last year, and about the time we got our orders in, our church was vandalized and our hearts were broken. We didn't know if we could even get out and get more orders, but we did great. God was so good to us. Our church was vandalized in October and we moved back in in Auugust. We did great. God took care of us, and our pecan sales were awesome. Now we selling again for the baking season this year.

My grandma used do the same thing that you are doing. I had the job to go in get the caned fruit when she need it. Now, I loved that job. I sure do miss her fruit cakes. Selling fruit cakes and making them surely puts you the the Christmas spirits. I know it did me. Enjoy! That is very sweet of you!

I am nowhere near prepared, but I do have my easy fruitcake recipe at hand and am waiting on an easy marzipan recipe from a friend, then baking will begin. Awesome that you have already sold 16 cakes! Sleep well, Lany.
