As men grow older

As men grow older, they start exhibiting three traits: 1. They stop listening. They just nod at whatever we're saying but you can be sure nothing is going into their head 2. They start telling corny puns. For example, "This is Buck, my pet. Not my pest" 3. They start telling you their opinions about things that no one cares about. For example, "This cupboard is made from spruce. I think it should have been made from mahogany instead".

Indeed. The brain tends to be less able to absorb new information as one gets older. It would be great if older people could relate new information to their existing stock of information to make better sense of it. What's unforunate is when older people stick to their existing stock of information and refuse to budge from it.

@yeezermac Yes, you are right. The brain of elder people is difficult to absorb new information, so it is difficult to change the habit of elder people. When we caring elder people we must patient with their behavior.
