This may just be the worst song ever recorded and the worst pop video of all time. This is no idle boast. Leonard Nimoy’s Star Trek captain and friend William Shatner recorded some dire songs too, including an appalling version of the Beatle’s Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, but Nimoy’s warbling is unbelievable. The video shows Nimoy being quite relaxed in his efforts to avoid his TV-character type-casting while dancers in pixie ears look as if they are offering a crude parody of the half-vulcan Spock rather than elves or hobbits. At least his take on Tolkien’s The Hobbit is shorter than any of than the Peter Jackson movies. Arthur Chappell
