I'll take a short break from reporting of yesterdays journey as I sit here today enjoying the quietness of being out in the country. It is so very peaceful after being in the city. The only sounds are cows in the neighbouring paddock mooing, birds chirping merrily, the rain gently falling and mine and the dog's breathing. I could soak this up all day. In fact I will. I'll be back with a small town New Zealand post later

We've got it pretty quiet here, too, although the place wakes up when Peter burro sounds off.

How lovely to have quiet all the time. I'm guessing burro is what I call donkey?

@valmnz i'm dang near a tad bit jealous! did gimme to thinkin' though 'bout creatin' yet 'nother sittin' spot here in my lil sanctuary. that bench jest speaks volumes to me, 'minds me 'f back home with all the moss coverin'...somethin' that don't occur here in this normally dry clime.

I'm a bit of a city kid, so not sure if I could cope with it all the time though

It looks so pretty Val. The added bonus for me is that you do not have any snakes in NZ!

She's beautiful - now that we've got to know each other. She wasn't panting, she was breathing

This sounds delightful. This is the sort of environment I love to be in. Quiet is getting hard to find in this age when there always seems to be media noise where there are other people.

I love nature and this is the main reason why we moved to the country. The cities are too noisy.
